In short: fantastic In full: Was so well organised. Even got a phone call to warn us about the potential traffic! Excellent value for money and very welcoming!!Big thank you to Thanet and all the marshals. Brillant day!! See you next year. Date of review: September 5, 2016
In short: Very well organised and very well marshalled. In full: Mildy undulating first half then a flatter second half, could be a PB course, well marshalled and plenty drinks even gels for 2nd half of the marathon.Nice day at the seaside. Date of review: November 5, 2010
In short: Worth running just for the experience of the incredible marshalling team!!! In full: A challenging first half with some fairly steep ups. Lovely atmosphere and route with lots of company from the half marathon runners. A distinctly different second half with long flat stretches alongside the sea. Quite lonely at times. A big mental challenge. All made better by the incredible team of the most supportive and helpful marshalls ever. Lots of water, bottled on the second half, plenty of gels and huge amounts of encouragement. A great medal, T-shirt and goody bag, and for me a 3rd team ladies prize to round off a great day out!! In short: If you like sea views, you'll love it! In full: The first half of the marathon seemed to be well supported and it faded in the latter. However, I enjoyed the course. Happy helping marshalls. Date of review: September 15, 2010
In short: Tough race, but I'd love another go next year! In full: As mentioned, a race of two halves, hilly first half, with which I was familiar, and a flat second. Much warmer than expected (and hoped!) it would be, with a stiff sea breeze so familar around here. Carried my own fluid for the first half, but (ample) bottles and gels very much appreciated for the second. Very encourgaing marshalls, often decked out with jelly babies. Lovely course - yes it may have been a bit residential coming into the final quarter, but the way I was feeling it was better to see a friendly marshall's face! I was so concerned about overdoing the first half that I ran well within myself and was feeling very good going into the second, but completely underestimated the mental effect of running much more alone after halfway. The heat took its toll, and then turning back for the last quarter into the wind (which I'm sure wasn't that strong when it was behind...) was the final straw, and the legs fell off at 23, and I then struggled ovr the last 2-3 miles. Never mind, eh - my first marathon in over 10 years, second fastest of my five, and I'll be better prepared mentally and physically next year. Date of review: September 12, 2010
In short: An absolutely brilliant event. In full: I ran the Kent Costal Marathon as a training run in the build up to Abingdon marathon and I have to say it was a great race. I shall definitely be returning next year (hopefully to help to retain 1st team prize).
The whole thing went like clockwork. Yes there was a slight delay but this was to ensure everyone was correctly registered and had picked up their numbers.
The marshalls were incredibly supportive and the marshall on the bike that was riding back to Margate moving pedestirans out the way for me was brilliant!
Great goody bag, lovely t shirt, nice medal great prizes.
A wonderful day out. Date of review: September 8, 2010
