In short: Better weather than last year, but still a bit murky. Excellent Goody Bag again

In short: Great race, loved it.
In full: 1st time for me and it didn't disappoint. Hilly, yes, but I managed to run up them all, although I did swear out loud when I saw the last one, 'For Fawkes Sake', carried on round the corner! Really friendly race, well organised and great support from the marshalls and the best goody bag to date. Well chocolate's always going to be a winner. Will definitely be back,

In short: A must do race for anyone that enjoys beautiful surroundings and a friendly atmosphere
In full: One of my favourite races, so I was hugely disapointed to pick up an injury at mile 6. Despite that it's a race you have to finish, irrespective of time, just to make sure you take in all the scenery and atmosphere along the way and enjoy all the support from fellow runners, marshalls and friendly spectators.

Great T-shirt and goodie bag.

Can't wait until next year - thank you to all at Nidd Valley Road Runners.

In short: Great organisation, great race but not easy!
In full: With the weather being kinder than last year, the 2010 Guy Fawkes was excellent. A great route although very hard with numerous challenging hills makes this not for the faint hearted. Shame on all those "runners" who walked up the hills, got to the top then charged down the other side, leaving those like me, who actually ran the whole way, in their wake!

Organisation was excellent with superbly cheerful and enthusiastic marshalling.

Runners need to look at themselves a little bit for starting positions as there were too many slower runners near the front at the start. In a race that has such a high proportion of club runners, I would have expected better. This can be no reflection on the organisers though.

All in all a fabulous race that you really know you've run afterwards!

In full: I did this race because of reading last years reviews. It was all I expected and more. Yes it's hilly but there were loads of downhills to compensate. Really good atmosphere with excellent marshalls cheering you on. Great long sleeve shirt at the end and enough chocolate in the goody bag to keep me and the kids happy. Well done to all who organise this race. I will be doing this again next year.

In short: Never disappoints
In full: This race is a favourite of mine - challenging but the organisation and scenery and friendliness make it special. Thanks should also go to Mr Fawkes who every year takes time out of his busy schedule to start the race. This is one celebrity who has been given an undeserved bad press!

In short: An absolute delight!
In full: I entered this race on the strength of last year’s reviews, and I’ve got to say this completely lived up to my high expectations. There was a typically good atmosphere amongst the 1,000 participants, despite the chill, gloomy grey morning. The clearly marked route, with large mile markers and two water stations, took us along undulating, quiet country roads, through picturesque hamlets, down a couple of lanes, a short stretch through a woods, before finishing in the 15th Century Ripley castle. With several of the marshals enthusiastically cheering us on and calling out our names or clubs. It was a sheer delight even though the mist deprived us of distant views. There was enough chocolate in my goody bag to keep the whole family happy and we got a sweatshirt too! All this for £11! The only negative was the seemingly rolling start, either that or no one near me (quite close to the front) heard the start. I’ll definitely be entering this again next year, when hopefully it will be a clearer day.

In short: Very enjoyable race
In full: My second time of doing this after 2008. Slight change in course since then but made no real impact on the route. Impeccably organised - you'd never guess there were over 800 starters and friendly stewards as you went around the course. Nice that people stayed around afterwards to cheer in runners further down the field which doesn't always happen at races. You can't fault the value either as both the long-sleeved tshirt is excellent and the goodie bag very generous. I finished in just over 66 minutes, taking over a minute off my PB so there is potential for faster times. Mind you, I'd also put in a bit more uphill running as that's what I prefer (vs. downhill) but I suspect I'm in a minority here!

In short: Hilly course, fantastic organisation & great atmosphere
In full: One of my favourite races, this is a hilly course through picturesque North Yorkshire. The marshalls were encouraging and the organisation very slick - like clockwork. Lovely finish in the courtyard of Ripley Castle then to collect your goody bag (full of sweets, chocolate & pasta)and long sleeved t-shirt.

In short: Superb run, as hard as ever.
In full: With a start & finish in atmospheric Ripley Castle courtyard, the G.F.10 is superbly organised & well marshalled - a scenic challenging mix of hills, road, trail & more hills. An added bonus was unusually kind weather. The t-shirt & generous goodybag is a terrific finishing touch. Look forward to pushing myself on this run every year, Excellent.
