In short: Quintessentially tough In full: Another well organised beautifully located 10k across Downton Abbey land. I even ran the first few yards with m'laud! Very good set up for a relatively small field on a undulating multi terrain. One will keep ones calendar free for 2015 for one of my favourite Home Counties 10k's. Having run the Medoc 2 weeks earlier might one trade Bordeaux for a pre race glass of sherry next year? Date of review: September 29, 2014
In short: beautiful scenery and enthusiastic marshals In full: Apart from the bizarre antics of the woman who sprinted past me, stopped, faced backwards and jogged on the spot while I overtook her every two minutes for the first half of the race until I was driven to ask her whether I was on Candid Camera, this was perfect. Easy parking, plenty of loos, no problem picking up my number, cheery marshals, beautiful scenery and glorious sunshine to boot. Date of review: October 1, 2013
In short: Downton Abbey? Down those hills!! In full: Fabulous race through glorious scenery. Murderous hills though, and undulating throughout makes this a challenging 10k.Newbury AC do a great job, super-smooth organisation....more please, well done! Odd choice of t-shirt colour? maybe some-one thought after all of those hills we'd be drained and need 'pinking' up? Date of review: September 26, 2011
In short: A cracking trail run In full: I've been running this race for many years now and love it- always try to do this run, and am a big fan of the infamous murderous hills. Excellent organisation and marshalling. The chip-timing is a very welcome addition.
But Oh! What happened with the t-shirts this year? Were they washed with a pair of red socks? Pretty grim pink guys!
