In short: A good race to open the new league season
In full: Special thanks from Isle of Wight Road Runners to Overton. Two of our four cars were delayed by Red Funnel which ment we didn't arrive until 2:45. The race officials couldn't have been more helpful, reserving us parking close to the start & even offering to delay the start at one point.
The race remains as well organised as ever, but thanks again to everyone concerned.

In short: Well Done Overton
In full: Made it harder changing the route around this year. Great weather and fantastic support from Marshall's and spectators.

In short: The hill hurts whichever way you go up it!
In full: Enjoyed the course direction change, as the wider opening mile gave more chance to find your position. The narrower start meant that the usual rush for the gate out of the field was less congested this year.

Very good organisation and continues to offer excellent value for money. Kids really enjoyed the 80m race before the start and both loved getting a medal (for free).

In short: A challenging two lap 5 miler around a charming village
In full: Change in direction of the course this year, some liked it - some did'nt. What hadn't changed from previous years was the great organisation and support from the locals around the Village.
Well done Overton Harriers Athletic club, see you next year.

In short: Friendly, scenic and a nice moento to boot!
In full: Not many hampshire league races have such a friendly atmosphere. The course was challenging but plenty of support along the way. Got a nice tankard instead of medal and the ice cream van and cake and tea available made for an enjoyable end to the race :)

In short: What goes up must come down
In full: I was really worried about this hills in this race but I needn't have worried. The race was run in the opposite direction this year, which may have made a difference, but although there was a long slow slog of a hill there was enough down and flat to make up for it.

This seemed to be very much a club runners race with a lot of very very good runners. There were scouts selling tea and cakes and kids' races - the kids all got medals for taking part.

Which brings me to my only criticism. We got a mini-beer tankard as a memento. It's nice, but I would have preferred a medal.

Definitely recommended though and the hill should not put you off.
