In short: Great mix of off road terrain and plenty of mud In full: Lovely course with some challenging hills , boggy fields and shoe sucking mud. Well organised and plenty of encouragement from the marshals. Date of review: December 8, 2014
In short: Mud and hills In full: Felt much harder than last year, probably because of the deep shoe-sucking mud and bog. And the hills were just as tough. But the sun came out half-way through and it was positively balmy at the finish.
I was lucky enough to win my age category (M60)(first time ever!) due to a judicious sprint at the finish. Date of review: December 7, 2014
In short: Only need one word BRILLIANT In full: This was absolutely fabulous, a great new course, lots of lovely mud and some really challenging undulations. Great technical Tee-shirt as well. Same again next year please Date of review: December 7, 2014
In short: Old school cross country on a wonderful muddy new course In full: Loved the new course and was much muddier and tougher than the old wasing estate one. Everyone seemed to have had a good time although some had to extract lost shoes from the mud. Just used two bowls if water in the back sink to clean my trailfox shoes as they were too muddy to bring in the house! Can the organisers can find more mud for next year? In short: Good run - well organised In full: I was expecting mud and stream crossings, like the last time I ran this race in 2006, but didn't get either. Not that I'm disappointed - it made it easier than it might have been. A good run and well organised. Date of review: December 2, 2013
In short: Cold, wet and muddy fun In full: This is a brilliant race. Much muddier than last year and the streams were full, which made it a bit harder, but still great fun. The course is fairly gentle for the first 6-7k and then - ouch - the last bit up through the muddy field comes as a real shock!
The number of knackered but smiling faces at the end demonstrates what a good race this is - a must for anyone in the area! Date of review: December 3, 2012
In short: Sticky mud, icy streams, killer hill at ~4.5 miles but marvellous fun! In full: Really friendly; both runners and marshalls gave loads of encouragement to this old(er) runner trying out a cross country for the first time! Loved the soup at the end and proud of my mug. Date of review: December 3, 2012
In short: One of the best In full: I return every year to run this race. It is now easier with the ditches nearer the end rather then first. A bit disappointed they were not full with water this time round. This must be one of the friendliest races . Keep up the good work and look forward to running the 10K again in July Date of review: December 8, 2011
In short: Friendly race set among nice scenery In full: The 10min walk to the start means this is not really a race for the spectators (especially little ones).
Everything else was really good though - well organised and friendly, with a nice scenic route taking you through the forest. After a pretty firm and gravelly 7/8k, the ditches and slog up the muddy field came as a bit of a shock!
A agree, the wrong date on the mug is endearing. It also meant i didn't have to train on the 5th as i'd already done 5.3 miles!! Date of review: December 6, 2011
