In short: good local run... In full: I really like this race, is a good local run, good course and definate promise for quick times. I wasn't caught up in the problems with the funnel at the end, but did see the chaos, and it was a real shame, as apart from that this is a well organised race. Definately back again next year. In short: An enjoyable 10K in a lovely town In full: A nice way to spend a Sunday Morning in Spring. Friendly course with only one steep incline up a golfing embankment. The park area also makes a nice spot for the start and finish. Encouraging marshalls, warm weather and a beautiful town made it an all-round enjoyable occassion. Date of review: April 26, 2007
In short: My first race and i really enjoyed it. cant wait for nect year and am currently looking for more races. In full: I know everyone was a bit annoyed at the end but because it was my first race i didn't know any different. I think people are right about the hill being slow. If we went the other way round the golf course it would be much harder due to the constant gradual hill. If people were more honest and started in the right place i think that would help. The marshalls were amazing and so encouraging. I really enjoyed this run and cant wait for some more. Date of review: April 18, 2007
In short: Great race - hopefully the finish line chaos can be sorted for next year In full: A nice course and overall a great race but too many runners on a narrow course meant a complete standstill at the first hill and a lot of congestion early on.
shame the chaos at the finish let down an otherwise great race. Recording the order of runners at the END of the chaotic finish funnel will mean totally inaccurate resukts as the scrum in front of the finish line meant that the finishing order was totally lost before entering the finish funnel.
Those points aside this is a great race and a lovely course. Date of review: April 17, 2007
In short: Done every one so far so they must be doing something right, nice t-shirt this year.Sorry to hear about the problems at the finish, hope this hasn't put beginners and first timers off this and oter races! Date of review: April 17, 2007
In short: enjoyable, nice scenery, bit congested In full: Good race, but congested especially at the first hill through golf course, could do with reducing entry limit or change of course ... waterfall was refreshing ... waiting in the funnel at the end bit of a pain .. but overall good marshalling, with nice atmosphere in town
In short: Great race let down by the terrible finish. In full: First time at this race and despite the fact that I stupidly ran with an injury so did not do myself justice timewise, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The course was not too challenging even with the slight hill during the first couple of km, although the congestion due to the narrow path would have made it difficult for quicker runners to have passed slower ones. At one point, it was no quicker running than walking!
All the marshalls, and there were plenty of them, were friendly and encouraging. Special thanks to the lady who sympathised with me when I stopped at 4k and considered pulling out. Great support from the locals for a 10k - people of Tamworth please take note!
Only major gripe is the finish area - what happenned? A large area covered in grass available to host a glorious finish was not utilised to its full potential. Funnels are an awful way to end a race - that is once you got to it after eventually crossing the finish line due to the congestion of runners. The final positions & timings will not be accurate so unless you had your own watch actual times will not be as shown on the results - unless you came in the top 10 of course! As it was a hot day people wanted to get a drink asap but couldn't unless friends came along with one but at least we were standing around in the warm. Just so glad it wasn't a cold day.
This is however, very easy to resolve so hopefully the organisers will take note for next year. Chip timing would improve this race. I'll definitely be back to see - and injury free hopefully!
