In short: A gem of a race tucked out of the away from traffic. In full: This is a lovely, challenging race. I have left out the word 'but' in this opening sentence, because had it not been challenging, it may not draw the crowds in… The course starts off on quite roads and along tracks, then runs up and over Crazies Hill, making the ascents Playful and the descents a pleasure. Adding in the countryside setting, I rate this run very highly and it even has a grassy finish which I very much like. All of these things take it away from being just another one of those road races, to something a little bit special, not just because I got a PB... Honest!.. Lots of water stops along the way, manned by smiley brownies and more of the same back at the finish area with cakes and hot drinks. All very nice and a good way to guarantee a return visit next year. Date of review: June 12, 2013
In short: Perfect cool June day ... for running In full: I agree with the other commentators. It's well organised right from the parking to the finish and an uplifting event which does a small club like Wargrave proud. The course is not the easiest, but a negative split one as the back half is all downward. And great weather for running this time too. Enjoyed it a lot. Back next year I hope, Date of review: June 10, 2013
In short: as usual excellent organisation and nice support and marshalling In full: ideal running temperature yesterday so I was hopeful of a half decent time(for me) and I wasn't disappointed.run this race about 5 times now and it is always well organised and a lovely scenic route....no complaints whatsoever. marshalling and support very good considering the rural route this run incorporates. definitely be back again next year! In short: Excellent race In full: Very nice course - I was pleased that the hills had been "talked up" to me beforehand as they weren't as bad as I had expected! Thought I ws slowing at halfway but that's when the course profile starts to go mainly downhill towards the finish, so I resumed my speed in the second half and was very pleased with my finish time, with the lovely encouragement I met with along the road leading to the rec field, and with the welcome from supporters at the finish. There's obviously a reason this race seems to be so popular! Date of review: June 10, 2013
In short: Lovely course, well organised, great race! In full: Really enjoyed this one, excellently marshalled, Paul Daniels starting us off, the course has a few minor hills/undulations, mainly in the first half, so it's nice to get the down hills on the way home, and the results were on the website in super-quick time. And a PB! Highly recommended. Date of review: June 10, 2013
In short: A good wee race. In full: Can't really fault anything with this race. The route is pleasant, leafy and friendly. The traffic was well marshalled and all in all the marshalls were great. Very supportive and helpful.
There's a couple of wee hills at the start but after 4-5k its pretty much all downhill. So there's still potential to run a quick time.
An extremely well organised race, well done to all involved!
In short: A nice day out In full: A true village-green race with the local Brownies doing the cakes and tea. Chip timing means the results are up on the board within a few minutes of finishing. Great course, cheery marshals and all in all a pleasant experience. I'll be back. Date of review: June 9, 2013
In short: well organised and lovely run along country roads In full: Excellent 10k race. Course is undulating so may not be a PB course but the scenery is lovely, support excellent and the organisation faultless. Importantly there were lots of water stations to throw water on yourself on warm days. Certainly would do this again. Date of review: June 12, 2012
