In short: Not a scenic course, but tough and challenging. Well organised, good friendly atmosphere and some nice little touches
In full: Having done this in 1993 and 1994 I was pleased to see that my memories were correct. A grassy first 1/2 mile preceeds a one mile climb with 250ft of elevation. Then a long period of general downhill and the final 5 or so miles along the flat. The course is not picturesque, at times the path is too narrow but there is an underlying friendliness and calm pleasure with this race. Well marshalled throughout and plenty of water stops ensured on a humid day it was (just about) bearable.

The finish was on grass and loads of spectators. The finishers medal was (for a race with less than 1,000 finishers) one of the best I have had in years - sponsor name, date of race, club name and map of the course on it. The club had obviously taken the time to think about it. Plus a tshirt and other goodies meant it was value for money. Will I be back - yes at some point.

In short: Good organisation, goody bag, never a pb with that hill and time of year
In full: The hill killed me, which I had anticipated, but I then thought I'd catch up the time downhill. However took me until Mile 4 to feel human, by which time the pb was long gone really. Nice course, apart from uneven pavements and parked cars arrgghh!! Last mile and a half tough again, seemed to take forever. Great goody bag, nice people :)

In short: I will be back next year
In full: Hot and humid weather, they could have added a couple of water stations and have a bit longer gap between sponge and water out handing it felt a little stressful. Otherwise I have nothing to complain about. A great job from the organizers as usual!! Thanks!!

In short: Wonderful Wycombe
In full: The organisation and value for money of this race have to be seen to be believed and combine to make this, to my mind, the best half marathon in the Bucks/Berks area.

The race is brilliantly organised in every single aspect - a perfect start and finish area, loads of friendly marshalls and an excellent commentator.

The 2007 medal was top quality - showing a detailed map of the course and alone would have been good value for the £11 entry fee. Amazingly, there was also a goody bag containing : A well designed T-Shirt, soft drink, water, apple, orange, 2 pens, chocolate bar, cereal bar, sweets, 3 free visits to the local gym AND an aeroplane shaped stress toy !!!

Some people moan about the hill at the start and the fact that the last few miles are boring but, whilst a PB might be out of the question, the race is a pleasure to run in.

Well done to Handy Cross Runners...your race is a credit to your club.

In short: Mile one hill, definitely a challenge
In full: After the hill at mile one, a pretty good course, wicked little hill at mile 12! Very well organised. Could have done with some more water after the 11th mile, it was very humid.
