In short: Sunny day, beautiful scenary, fantastic cause! In full: This is my first Run 10k event, it was really well organised and all the marshals on the course were really encouraging! A really nice atmosphere with everyone helping each other round the course! Would definately do it again, particularly because the venue is so attractive. Date of review: September 23, 2008
In short: Loved the run and so good to do something for such a fantastic charity! In full: The course was challenging but fun and beautiful, there were plenty of people just getting round and enjoying it. Organisation was excellent, well done to everyone! Hopefully it raised lots of money to save lives! Date of review: September 22, 2008
In short: Very enjoyable. It's a good first race as the atmosphere is friendly and the kids have plenty of fun In full: This was my first ever race. I had it all planned but as everyone beginners seems to do, I went out too quick. I managed to stay the distance and finished within an hour which was my target. Some of the inclines seemed to go on for ever, and despite the start and finish line being the same, I'm sure we climbed much further than we descended:-). I notice in reviews from last year that the distance marking may be inaccurate, but checking against my watch The km markings seemed accurate.
It was a really hot day, but everyone seemed to have a good time, and I expect I'll be back again next year. Date of review: September 21, 2008
In short: A very challeging race In full: Organisation was very low key, nothing like the Race For Life events. The course was described as flat with one hill which it most certainly wasn't. It was a challenging cross country run with plenty of hills and although i've done 10k's before, this was a killer, particularly on a hot day. Water station was not at 5k as described and was rubbish and congested. The scenery was beautiful but your lungs certainly paid for it! Beware first timers!!! Date of review: September 21, 2008
In short: Beautiful cross country race if the weather is nice In full: This is a good race for first timers, although it is cross-country, so if you've trained or tarmac, you'll find it a bit harder. But it's not too hilly, just a few very small and gradual hills. Date of review: September 20, 2008
In short: Pleasant route with a few let downs. In full: This was my first 10k so these are a beginners impressions.
Positive first: Atmosphere was great, lots of friendly faces. Route was mostly pleasant though sometimes very crowded but the scenery was nice.
Negatives: The water station was a joke, a big disappointment when it's your first run and you've been looking forward to it for 5k. The last k was WAY more than a k which made the finish way harder than it should have been. And, it took an hour to get our of the car park at the end.
Anyway, moaning aside it was a lovely day and a good course for beginners, not really a pb course though.
In short: good charity race and very scenic. In full: The delayed start by 45 minutes was a bit of a pain. The start was a little conjested, apart from that good fun with a good crowd and it's for charity. Date of review: October 29, 2007
In short: What a load of moaners we runners are. Lovely day out In full: If you want a top class race then this is not the one for you. This is a money raising event for EVERYONE. The serious runners should try other events and leave this race to us lesser mortals who enjoy a good fun race with a serious purpose ie to raise money for cancer. Dont get me wrong I love running and enter events all over the country. Date of review: October 26, 2007
