In short: Nice change to the normal weekly run In full: Park as nice as usual. Course - and unsure about others but I made it a short but spot on otherwise. Markers easy to find which does make a differance. Nice change to the normal early week run and always good to run somewhere different. Low entry cost makes it a true bargin. Well done SLOW. In short: nice warm evening and I didn't manage to get too lost this time - not even when I took the wrongturn and ended up at the fence by the ctraining centre In full: recommended for running with a difference - you have to think at the same time and not fopllow the idiot in front who might well be lost!! In short: nice evening run around the park, with a bit of river thrown in for good luck In full: its got that little bit extra in that you have to find your own way around the course (you get a map) although mass start did make it a bit of follow the leader.
Course was good, liked the small river crossing, organisers were very friendly.
Makes a really nice change to the usual mid week training run. Date of review: May 12, 2010
In short: Shame - so enjoyed it last year. In full: Lack of comms made this challenge just an evening`s run for me...which was such a shame - very much hope this was not the `norm`. This event can be so much fun & completely different from my normal races & very worth entering. It`s not just one event but 11 or so different time trials between the checkpoints. Scenery was just excellent as was the wildlife in the park. Date of review: August 16, 2009
In short: As a first timer at the old orienteering, was a bit apprehensive at the thought of map/compass reading but I needn't have been in this excellent beginner friendly run in beautiful surroundingss Date of review: August 11, 2009
In short: the experts had compasses - i muddled through without In full: I arrived late for the 10k but the cheerful starter promptly switched my entry to the 6k route, and I was given a map and electronic finger. I was flustered, and new to orienteering aspect, but started with the pack and soon found the first marker. Before I knew it, the trail was over, and I deliberately chose the scenic riverside path to the finish.
Well run event, with a mixture of club runners and newbies. I will be back for the Richmond 10k in August, a bit more prepared this time! Date of review: June 24, 2009
In short: Not your normal 10k but a fantastic change. In full: What a great challenge & idea. Made a very nice change to my normal road races & straight forward trials runs. Nice scenery & wildlife...a herd of deer didn`t seem to mind. Top tip - keep the runner in front in sight! Well worth the drive - Thanks to all. Date of review: August 15, 2008
In short: A great, fun introduction to trail racing (if a little frustrating)! In full: Richmond Park is always an excellent location for running with good variation and plenty of challenges (depending on your map reading skills!). This race had a nice atmosphere, and was a lot of fun. The only shame is that the checkpoints are so hard to find, and if you get lost it's Game Over. My suggestion to 1st timers would be to invest in a compass or try and keep up with the front runners!! Oh, and watch out for the wildlife.. Date of review: August 13, 2008
