In short: Hills, mud, steep in Places!
In full: Have just done this race for the first time. Outstanding marshalling and great route although too many gates, stiles and narrow bits for a pb. I used this as a marathon training run though and it was great fun! Enjoyed every minute and thoroughly recommend!

In short: challenging and rewarding
In full: Good variable terrain, fantastic scenery. Luxury and Comfortable start and finish services. Several waywards got lost, inc me. Would prefer the red and white tape rpoute marking to be more comprehensive and obvious, especially on the Obelisk climb. Apart from the poor route marking it has everything going for it.

In short: Saw the Obelisk this year
In full: 2nd time I've done this and I'm starting to take the windy start as par for the course. Thanks to the marshalls for the Birthday greetings. Much appreciated. A great mix of all terrain. As previous comment no goody bag but t-shirt & free soup plus charity donation is a bargain at £10. A big hello to the marshall at the end of the climb. Sorry forgot your name but we do bump into each other once a year

In short: Tough mixed terrain race.
In full: This was a lot tougher than I had expected, prob due to xmas excess, but was very hilly but it could have been worse if the weather had been wet. Marshalls were great and the scenery fantastic. Advertised on runnersworld as t shirt and goody bag, but there was no goody bag but the t shirt was nice.

In short: Here's where you pay for Christmas sloth
In full: This race felt really tough - think it was the high winds coupled with post-Christmas lethargy. Marshalling a bit slap-dash for us back markers - I had to ask where to go once or twice as the marshalls seemed to have lost interest, and the tape wasn't easy to see at times. Still, a good long stretch for the legs and a decent T-shirt.

In short: Good hard trail race.
In full: Good route just make sure you don't wear your cross country shoes as there is a fair bit of road. Trail was good and marshalls were friendly. Only slight problem was that I went the wrong way in Haldon woods up near the Obelisk due to lack of signs and marshalls and I wasn't the only one. Lost lots of time and places which was a bit annoying. Apart from that had a great day out.

In short: Mud, scenery, hills, and water. What more could you want?
In full: Cracking race. Lots of mud, some hills, and plenty snippets of good scenery here and there. Nice understated t-shirt with the minimum of advertisements. May actually use the t-shirt outside of the house instead of as rags for my bike!

In short: A good mix of all terrain
In full: Glorious scenery if you had enough time to look around. As a previous review states the start needed a louder PA system but the wind would have drwoned out most anyway. A few small subtle changes including directions to water station at the finish & this would make a good race a superb race

In short: Pleanty of changing terrain to make it interesting.
In full: A very well organised event, bit of confusion at the start, but that could have been down to the howling wind.

Liked the sign at about four miles saying "Yes thats the Obelisk", I was just thinking that myself at the time, spooky!
