In short: So much potential but iron out the flaws In full: Car parking was a nightmare, plenty of marshal's to sort it but lack of communication between them. Race was still going on when I left but nobody co-ordinating people getting out.
Start was horrendous - for a 400 person race don't need to get people outside on a freezing, snowy and wet morning 15 minutes before the start time when race HQ is next to start. First corner was an accident waiting to happen - far too slippy, far too sharp a turn, far too many kerbstones when you got into the car park. It was like the Grand National - fallers everywhere. Surely a start on the road would make much more sense and also elimibate the need for "pens" - never known a race so small start in waves before, in fact never known a race start in waves, thought it was only triathlons that did this. Pens weren't marked either.
Chip timing was dodgy at best, apparently it took me 5 seconds to cross the start line, I was stood on the line.
T-shirt at the end, so much better now if these were technical or a new momento thought up.
That said on a decent March day definitely got PB potential and a decent course. Date of review: March 18, 2013
In short: Really impressed, and as for the scenery - it's Carterton what do u expect? In full: I didn't expect much, don't know why I just didn't , but I was pleasantly surprised. A good crowd considering the snowy conditions, friendly runners, well marshalled and a nice medal at the end. Excellently organised, that was the main thing for me, it had the feel of a much bigger event. All in all a cracking race, which will probably become an annual event for me. Next time I plan on smashing my pb as I feel I could have clocked a decent time if it weren't for the itbs in my knees !!!! Date of review: March 17, 2013
