In short: good fast run in the morning. Excellent warm up for the big event in Edinburgh City Centre that afternoon/evening

In short: A bit too triggeresque for me. Didn't like the new course and worry for the safety of runners over those last 4 miles if weather was typical hot for July.
In full: Maybe I was expecting too much after the shambles of the last three years but alas the new organisers created a pretty uninspiring show. The course is not as good as last years even though it is now 13.1 miles. A net 100m climb in the last 4 miles is however verging on fell running and brutality. Running up Lochee Road used to be hard but at least it was over in the 1st quarter of the race and you had a long downhill stretch to recover. Fortunately this year was not as hot as 2 years ago. Into the breeze and 20C+ could potentially cause problems to runners like the climb at Marsden in the Great North Run where fatalaties are common and I'm not sure there was adequate first aid to cope with these potential problems in this section. There was also less water on the course than previous years which although adequate yesterday may have been a problem 2 years ago.

Didn't really like the finish either. The castle was a much better place to finish and its a shame that in Broughty Ferry gala and the Dundee Blues festival weekend the organisers couldn't make more of the festivities. What was the point of the chips if there was no mat at the start? When did the race start after the 3-2-1 nothing or when the runners got fed up and just went? Did the bloke who won really do it in 0.00.41 as it shows in the Courier because they couldn't get the clock at the finish to work?

The support was even more sparse than in previous years as the run was predominantly through uninhabited parts of the city. Scenery was less dramatic and without the city centre section a lot of what dundee has to offer would have been missed by visitors to the city. The organisation was probably slightly better than in previous years but the event is less of a showcase to Dundee as a city which is a shame.

If we are going to be in camperdown in the future I'd rather just stay in the park and surrounding area to concentrate the crowds. I'm sure a couple of laps of the park, templeton woods, clatto reservoir and the wildlife park would make a distance nearish to 13.1 miles. Personally I'd rather see the course reversed or start in the city centre again and finish in the ferry. I'm sure the grassy areas on the esplanade could still accommodate things like the family fun runs.

In short: lots of room to improve. Telling the shuttle bus drivers where to go would be a start. the t shirts for finishing were not related to dundee race no date on them etc.. and only large and xl . why? expensive compared to other halfs

In short: tough course , poor organisation
In full: Last year was apparently horrific organisation. this year i left in the first courtesy bus 25 minutes late , was dropped off by the driver 3/4 of a mile from the start , leftmy baggage with a marshall who didnt know how it would get back to the finish or where it would be and had to wait 15 minutes on the delayed start. Then i had a nice 6 miles and then got fed up running uphill for the last 7 miles. will i be back? nah

In short: Very slick organisation and nice flat course for a newbie
In full: Start and finsih were well organised. First half marathon so can't really comment on the course except to say it was pretty flat so should allow you to run fast. Didn't like the switchbacks though - I hate running in contraflows! Would be good if these could be ironed out a bit more.

In short: excellent flat course, perfect for newbies like me
In full: My first half so always going to be special but otherwise was well organised, route was scenic in parts and positively ugly in others, not much atmosphere as almost no crowd support until the final mile, but I still loved it!!!

In short: Huge improvement on last year - thanks for listening!
In full: (Reviewed by husband of (now) heavily pregnant EF.) Improvements have raised this event to equal of Glasgow which is an excellent race. The run along the sea front can seem endless but at least it's flat, hence my PB!
