In short: Good course and very helpful / encouraging marshals
In full: Have done all four of the Dumfries marathons. First was in 1985 enjoyed them all. Making it an annual fixture would be great but as a member of the organising club I know how much work is done by the organising committee, and Richard in particular, to put it on.

In short: Well done Dumfries
In full: Can't praise Dumfries Running club enough for putting on this event.

My time wasn't what I wanted (my fault) but I still think this is a great course for good times. And if you do slow down a bit there is some great scenery to look at!

In short: Deserves to be a regular event on the marathon calendar.
In full: Well done to Dumfries RC for providing an excellent race. I thoroughly enjoyed this challenging run, and despite the cold wind it certainly promises to be a quick course.
If possible though, it would've been nice to see a finishing clock at the finish in Dock Park as spectators (apart from my family who were keeping tabs on my time) had no idea what time runners were finishing in. Other than that, excellent work everyone :)

In short: great organisation, scenery nd value for money. worth the travel
In full: as with 2 years ago this was a fantastic run. even though i was 15 minutes slower than last year i still enjoyed the event. perfect organisation, great company all the way round and apart from the snow at mile 24-finish, the weather was a god send.

In short: Very well organised event
In full: This was a great effort from Dumfries running club. I must admit I did find it tough - few spectators, artic winds and a small, strung out field but it was well worth doing and the marshalls, police etc were brilliant.

In short: Fantastic credit to the organisers
In full: Why do we all flock to the big city marathons and then winge about parking, toilets etc, when we have events like this with less than a hundred runners.
For your 14 quid we had the use of a brand new sports center, parking 20 yds from the front door, enthusiastic marshalls at every turn, local police stopping the traffic at major road junctions, fantastic views of the snow covered lakeland mountains, numerous water stations plus a first for me the facility to have your own bottle at two stations,a hot shower at the finish, more than adequate toilet facilities at the start and around the course, goody bag with t/shirt and medal, endless supply of hot soup tea and coffee.Come on you marathon runners clubs unless such events are supported they will disappear.Well done Dumfries Running Club for a fantastic event.

In short: Learning the ropes
In full: This is my second marathon, and although I felt that I had put in the miles for it, I was found out at the 17 mile mark. I was just so bloody cold. In the end, I was disappointed by my performance on what is a very good course.
