In short: Great fun and superbly organised. The very humid conditions and a couple of hills made it hard work.

In short: Shows my lack of cross country training...
In full: Great race, well organised, great atmosphere and some great scenery, was worth the trip from Southampton....But it did show my lack of hill training....well done to all involved..

In short: Good testing run through the trees.
In full: Very enjoyable, markers were fine and marshalls gave good directions and encouragement. Interesting to know how many other Happy hammers were on the course.

In short: Great location, very friendly atmosphere and a bit of a challenge in places!
In full: This was the second year of the ninesprings 9K and was a great improvement on last years race (course well marked and local 'youths' who moved markers last year thankfully stayed away. The course is excellent given the proximity of the town centre and is quite challenging in places. A fairly small field helps make this a very friendly local race. The fun run is a real bonus for the children and adds to the 'family feel'. A little gem of an event!

In short: Not easy, but not too long
In full: Mostly on woodland tracks or across reasonable paths through fields. Flat, up, flat, down, flat, up (ouch), down, finish. Exposed my lack of fitness at the moment. Think it may be a little shorter than 9k, given my time. Not a big field, but range of abilities.

In short: Fairly steep hill near beginning sorts the men from the boys
In full: I think 2005 was first year of run. This was also my first race. Flat start fooled me into running too fast so short steep hill put me in my place; glad to see water station at top. Tape marking part of course had been removed by some young lads so I missed out the undulating section around the nine springs and recorded a very respectable time (for me).
