In short: Dodgy organisation but a flat course for real PB potential and quality goodies at the end.
In full: Before the race everyone congregated at the race HQ (Carterton leisure centre) and I am glad I got there early becasue as warned the car parking was limited and filled up quickly. There didn't seem to be anyone in charge of the proceedings, only one chap busy taking details from entrants on the day. This did lead to some general confusion as I have never been to a race before that did not have a pre-race brief. I was a little more annoyed though by the baggage arrangements. The creche used for this was open for anyone to walk into with check to ensure the bag they were collecting was their own. Deffinately not supervised as advertised, unless this meant the masseuse and her customers who were using the same space. The start was 700 meters away from the HQ in a residential area and there was no anouncement to start making your way there and people just seemed to start drifting over. After following everyone in the hope they knew where it was the start itself was equally low key. Another chap suddenly appeared out of nowhere and fired the starting pistol without any build up or ceremony. The race itself was fine consisting of 2 laps around the town's residential roads and one country road section coincinding with the only short hill. The rest was flat. There were plenty of marshals who did a good job and did give support to the runners. At the finish you are treated to water, a bannana (always a nice touch), a medal and a good quality T-shirt a class above many you get for some half marathons I could mention. This along with an unexpected PB raised my opinions of this race. Organisation aside I'm sure I will do it again, but leaving my bag in the car this time.

In short: I entered this as a warm up for a half and it did just that but not much atmosphere out on the run and hardly any support from the marshalls . So disapointing

In short: Good race badly let down by disinterested marshalls
In full: This race has excellent potential, there was some traffic but it didn't get in the way and the route was well marked, scenic and pretty flat. The start is the best part of a kilometre from the race HQ and there are no toilets at the start, which isn't ideal. The worst point, however, was the lack of support from the marshalls. I always shout a cheery good morning and thank those that encourage me. Many couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge my greeting. At the 5km mark I said to a bored looking lady 'come on, give us some support!' to which she said 'I will the second time around'. Brilliant, we have to run 9.5km to be worthy of her taking her hands out of her pockets and frankly at that point although she did clap and say well done, it was pretty lacklustre. I was lapped by the race winner who was about a kilometre in front of his rivals; the marshall watching didn't even acknowledge him. Just disgraceful. Go to Thame, Carterton marshalls, and learn that marshalling is about more than vaguely waving at traffic.

In short: Great race, great bbq, perfection
In full: I like this race, it's a great early season blast. It's flatish, easy to get to, fairly local, and suitable for all levels, and well marshalled too.
Interesting to see how much of the town is being re-developed, masive change from last yr.
BBQ is/was great !
Didn't get me a pb this yr, so will be back to try again next yr. Can't grumble, top 40 finish makes up for no pb any day

In short: Very well organised. Good course.
In full: Very well organised. Good HQ with plenty of toilets. Nice flat course which thins out quickly. Friendly marshals. Good to have a nice straight finish with clear view of the clock. T-shirt AND a medal - handed out by the Lady Mayoress no less. Good of her to take the trouble. Managed only 6 seconds more than last year's PB so pleased with that and will be back next year.

In short: Jolly good
In full: Once again a slickly run and organised renewal of Cartertons 10K. The Lady Mayor again gave up her time to present the medals..top girl. A nice friendly atmosphere and the organisers managed to find possibly the only bit of nice scenery in the whole of the town to run around (7 to 8K). I think this is a top race and i will always try to do it, but isn't Carterton dull? Cotswolds my ....P.S. The Bananas were a bit under ripe. I love a banana me.

In short: Fast and friendly with potential for a personal best
In full: A second running of my local event and far more enjoyable in the cool weather. Really hope the organising team decide to keep the late March date rather than several months later.

The course itself is fast with two laps of a course primarily on roads with a short section on dirt track. There is a water station between the 2 and 3 mile markers and the marshals once again did an excellent job around the course.

Overall an excellent opportunity to run a fast 10k with a friendly and uplifting atmosphere. I'm sure that I will be back next year!

In short: Good value for money and excellent for first timers!
In full: Brilliant race for first time runners (very flat course) or runners getting back into it! It was my first race in two years after having my baby girl. Well impressed that you got a t shirt and medal great value for money!
