In short: Mud, cows, rivers and rain...lovely!
In full: Despite my score for PB potential (hills & mud & stiles & a pond!) this was in fact my first 12k and therefore new a PB! Really well organised by a superb running club (i'm not biased!). Quick tip: If you want a good place don't get caught at the back because the stiles really cause serious bottlenecks...but hey, who cares it's just great big fun!

In short: Does what it says on the tin!
In full: Very enjoyable race - the poor weather just gave it even more of an 'edge'. The marshals were very encouraging, signing the route very well and the jelly babies after the pond were most welcome! Not a PB race but this is all about getting out and having fun on a Sunday morning with like-minded runners.

Well done to Somer AC for another terrific event and a very swish 10th Anniversary memento!

In short: mud, driving rain, v. cheerful marshalls!
In full: Loved it - great race, big variety of terrain, hills and streams. thanks to all the marshalls for keeping us going - especially the jelly baby marshall after the pond!

In short: Mud, wind and fun!
In full: My thitd Canter and as evrr it was agaony at the time but fun with hindsight! The extra 2K was also a mixture of fun and pain! A wonderful memento at the end. Only tiny criticism - at the very end of the race is wasn't 100% clear which way to run from the car park to the finish line. That's just trivial, though - terrific race!

In short: A Ideal race if you like to get wet and muddy
In full: A good off road fun run with hills, stiles stream and river crossings. Excellent marshalls giving plenty of support even in the wind and rain. Just one comment as a outside to the area, few more directions in finding the Rugby Club would help. Like the memento at the end. Look forward to next year.

In short: Good varied course including shark in the pond! Friendly atmosphere
In full: Good event, definitely up for it next year. Could have done with more water on the course due to hot day.

In short: Agonisingly great!
In full: The weather couldn't been any different to last year! Wonderful fun. The river crossings, although (along with the hills) preventing any chance of a PB, were a godsend in the heat! Great views, excellent organisation, tremendous fun. Constructive 'criticism' - time for a different memnto in 2009 rather than another mug, plus I personally always like a marker every K. Bring on next year!

In short: FANTASTIC!!! tough & the aches have gone, the memory will last
In full: I’d looked forward to this race and I wasn’t disappointed. On my 'running tour' of the South West, & my third 10k (ish) in less than 48 hours, this was race was never going to be my quickest but it was the most enjoyable.
Testing course, great scenery, good organisation & friendly encouraging marshalls in brilliant sunshine. The stiles so early on in the race were a bit of a hindrance to getting into any rhythm but due to the nature of the terrain to follow, this really wasn’t an issue.
I ran in road shoes (although I had trail shoes with me, pre race advice from a marshall was that ground was firm/rutted) and in the end I didn’t regret my choice (despite the wet grass as the start & the muddy bit in the trees before the pond (where the toy boat was an amusing addition, although I wasn’t laughing at the time as I waded through the waist high water).
Highly recommended.

In short: First time - but already a favourite
In full: Although listening to last years competitors I missed torrential rain but with the heat this year it was still 'entertaining'. Lovely variety and hills. Loads of stiles a waist high pond and a river too. Excellent organisation. Everybody so laid-back makes this one of my all-time favourites, so-much-so not even bothered about the finishing time!! Well done all at Somer ac
