In short: Another great run in the country. In full: Thanks once again to the organisers who delivered another great race this year. An undulating course with a bit of a challenging climb saved till the end - makes the delicious cakes all the better! Always a really friendly experience. Since stumbling upon this race in 2011 I've been back every year (a 200 mile round trip) and will definitely be back next time too. Date of review: August 7, 2013
In short: Thank you Dooddlers for a great race In full: Great marshalls, organised by runners for runners. The cake and "tango" orange t-shirt were great at the end. No need for road closures as next to no cars. At £14 on the day entry it was a bargain - larger races could learn a thing or two here. A nice early training race for an autumn marathon in a nice part of Dorset. Date of review: August 5, 2013
In short: My favourite race, friendly and well organised again this year. In full: An excellent race, the High School makes an excellent base and finish point. Organisation was slick, as ever, but the friendly atmosphere is preserved. Great value entrance fee, including a T-shirt and of course the delicious Honeybuns cakes. Scenic, moderately demanding course, not classic PB potential, although I managed that last year. Just a shame they couldn't control the weather - it was certainly challenging with intermittent heavy showers and strong headwinds, but we didn't linger so long this year to enjoy the facilities to sit down with a post-race coffee. Overall, a big well done and thank you to the organisers, still my favourite race of the year.
In short: Smooth In full: Undulating, but not overly so. Very little traffic. Nice t-shirt. Honeybun's delicious cakes. Well organized and friendly. Hot showers. What more do you want? Date of review: July 29, 2012
In full: Firsr 6 mile up and down but gradual rise to the top bout 4 mile and short steep decent down tk me 6-7 mins longer than normal half ans it was a hot day! Plenty of water stations everyone supportive and friendly x mayb tough for a first half Date of review: August 14, 2011
In short: Friendly, well organised and good value. It doesn't get much better than this. In full: Being a relative newbie to running this race was my first at the distance having only run three 10k races before. The car parking, race admin and facilities were all excellent. The race itself was well marshalled with frequent water stops along lovely quiet country lanes. I will back next year for sure. Date of review: August 9, 2011
In short: Brilliant Event In full: This was my first time at the Sturminster Newton 1/2 marathon (or Stur Half), and I must say that I found it to be brilliant. Considering that it's a fairly small event, it was well organised and the course itself was challenging without being a tedious slog. Top marks for the themed water stations aswell - the Father Ted/Craggy Island one made me laugh as I ran past! The only downside was the lack of a medal for finishers...but for £8 entry I suppose I shouldn't be too picky! Top marks all round. Date of review: August 8, 2011
