In short: Too hot, but well organised. In full: Ouch. The heat just radiated off the roads, if it hadn't been for those lovely people with hoses and the marshalls manning the water stations I think I'd have melted before halfway! It was really hot and not much shade but everyone was really friendly on the way round. I'd definitely do this one again, if only for the gorgeous flapjacks at the end! In short: Usually warm to hot, definitely not flat, but not murderous either, welcoming and scenic. In full: Will definitely come back and hope for a slightly cooler day. Marshalls great and thank you all the hoses. I hope you are not on water meters!
Well organised and reasonable value, definitely one of the most scenic routes ever, but an earlier start would help with the lack of shade. Date of review: August 6, 2007
In short: Well worth the trip, well organised - just too hot and too late a start In full: The course was too flat - the inclines were long drags rather than real up and down hills which I found hard going. Given the time of year we would hope it would be warm - could do with taking a lesson from some of the triathlons I have done and had an earlier start. Also means that it doesn't take such a large part out of the day which I am sure many would appreciate. The event was well organised, particularly given the different start and finish locations, lots of drink and sponge stations with special thanks to all the residents around the course with hosepipes - very much appreciated. In short: Thought this was great, despite the heat In full: Excellent organisation, fantastic to have sponges before each water station and water every 2 miles, very generous and the local residents were really kind to put hosepipes out for us to run through a cold shower - I think about 5 or 6 in all which was much appreciated given the heat. Friendly runners and the orange quarters and scrummy flapjacks were a much appreciated treat at the end. Thanks to all, I really enjoyed it even tho that last hill nearly broke me! In short: One of my highest rated races. Not good PB potential because it's always scorching!! In full: Well done Dorset Doddlers - yet again a fantastic event in stunningly beautiful scenery. The beauty of that avenue of trees in the last mile would take my breath away, if I'd had any left by then!
Beware angry farmers, however. I get the impression that we are only slightly more popular with them than a bought of foot and mouth....
Thanks to those with the hoses as well! Date of review: August 6, 2007
In short: Outstanding organisation In full: The heat made this very very difficult, and I was glad to get to the end (times out the window!) The organisation was superb, with plenty of water and sponges, and support from marshals on bikes and in cars, as well as local people with hoses. Definitely do it again (but hopefully in less heat). In short: A tough cookie, this one, but satisfaction guaranteed! In full: Great organization;- never seen so many neighbourhood supporters out with sprayers, hoses, waterbuckets, etc. and so many drinks stations. great support too, from the marshals on bikes who kept checking to see if we were still in the land of the living! many thanks.I'll be back.
