In short: everyone should do it!
In full: Love this course, fantastic scenery and just the right amount of hills to be challenging but not a killer. Always well organised and great support from marshals and local people on course.

In short: Hard as heck, but the achievement, views & the finish are worth it (promise)
In full: Ok, this was my first marathon & yes I under estimated the challenge (I grew up in Norfolk & live in what I can confirm is flat cambridgeshire)
The hill at 7 miles is evil, but if you push up it, it's over soon enough, ice cream hill at 20 miles came on me before I realised & fortunately that meant it was also over soon enough. DO NOT misunderstand me, those hills are nasty, but you're running in the Lakes, shocker! After 20 miles its not too bad (but see the end), the rest is rolling hills +/- 20-30 meters & their not too bad but they are relentless.

For me (I work in k's) k's 23-25 were the ones that finished my 3:30 challenge, those hills do not get the credit they deserve, think they lull you in and mentally kick you, with four crests and then more hill ahead

However, the crowds were relentless, the support fantastic even on the most remote spot, they biked there and clapped all day long (& had sweets awesome!)

The finish was awesome, but watch out for the bridge over the river & the one last hill up the drive I could have cried, why, why, why would you do that ;o)

If you want to say you've done one of the toughest most beautiful marathons this is for you, but if you like pain do the ten in ten that group are inspiring & amazing, one day...

Yes I will do this again, but a flat next (I hurt and am reviewing remembering every step and dreaming about the hills & views, IT IS WORTH IT, but train, train, train

In short: Amazing weekend
In full: My husband and myself ran to Brathay from Fleetwood then did the marathon with a total of 88 miles over 3 days. We love the course as makes you work a little harder and the scenery is gorgeous. The 10 in 10 runners are fantastic and we was honoured to spend the weekend with them. We will be back next year for the marathon.

In short: A very special marathon but very hard
In full: Second time running this one and I loved it. Alongside chester this is the best marathon out there in my opinion. This was my third marathon in a month and I paid fro it in the last six miles. Tough hills at about 7,15,21 and constant sharp up and sharp down. Fantastic organization and stewards. Breathtaking views and the finish is the best anywhere . Loved the Kendal mint cake very friendly race and the fantastic 10 in 10

In short: What else could you want from a marathon?
In full: Loved this race. It is now my pb race and the first time I've got sub 4 so if you train for the hills it's there for the taking (and you can more than make up the time on the downhills). The atmosphere is uplifting and the 10-in-10ers utterly humbling. I would also recommend taking advantage of the B&B offer to stay at Brathay - it makes it all the more civilised that your shower is 100yds from the finish!

In short: Spectacular scenery, Wonderful marshals but wow,the hills!
In full: This is a wonderful event, really well organised. But it is tough & the hills made the last few miles a walk/ hobble! Lovely scenery and the marshals & helpers were just wonderful. Can't thank them & the organisers enough.
