In short: Poor pre-race instructions.
In full: Pre-race instuctions, should have mentioned that a timing chip would need to be worn,
could have mentioned to have £2 handy for car parking on the day and to allow an hour to get parked !
- also could have told us how many drinks stations to expect and warned us of the very busy main road/traffic on the return on the other side of the lake.

In short: If you run marathons this should be on your tick list.
In full: The first half down the west coast of the lake is very scenic. As you get to the other side higher walls and hedges cut down some of the views and traffic is a slight issue, but was well handled as this can be a busy road. From the vague haze that was Windermere and Ambleside I remember good support, but the endless undulations had reduced me to stumbling wreck by then. The final hill upto Brathay was really uncalled for. The wonderful, but not hot weather helped. I found pacing over the first half difficult with the constant ups and downs and paid for that later on as the course got flatter.

In short: Superb Day...1st Marathon..Could not have wished to run in a better spot....scenery beautiful.
In full: My first and was supposed to be my last....now wondering about another!! Atmosphere, support, setting and fellow runners gave me a real boost and came in at 3 42..really pleased. Managed to admire the scenery, which was a joy to look at. Thought that, overall, the organisation was great, Thank you Scott and team.

In short: On the day a shambles before the start - over an hour in the queue to park - then surprise surprise a timing chip to be sorted - just another delay - then 10 mins to the start - why not tell us this in the instructions - and expensive plus £2 to park

In short: Tough but rewarding, and great sense of achievement.
In full: What a great first marathon to enter. The organisation was like clockwork, the course was very challenging with plenty of ups and downs, breath taking scenery and was well marshaled with frequent drinks stations. The atmosphere was very friendly and although i hit the proverbial wall at 18 miles i managed to shuffle to the finish in 3.44 and cant wait to run it next year.

In short: Why didn’t I listen? To my mates back at the club and pick an easier first marathon
In full: My first marathon why did I pick this one. The scenery was beautiful.
The people fantastic. Organisation was like clockwork.
But the hill where torture, after 6 months training on the Lincolnshire Wolds, I thought I was prepared, and at Newby bridge In 1:27 every thing was going well, but I had underestimated the second half of the race, with a 7 mile climb to Windermere by the 20 mile mark I was done and limped in at 3:22. Don’t ever underestimated this one, its tough
