In short: Well organised event with a big race feel at the start and finish In full: Very efficiently organised. A well run car park area led to a good atmosphere around the start. Good to see people lining up according to anticipated finish times. Great music and good support for the majority of the race. The race goes alongside a main road for a short while - the quiet roads after this are much calmer and command superb views. This is potentially a quick course, but the heat on the day certainly slowed me. Well done to the organisers for putting on this welcoming event and raising so much for charity. In short: 3rd time and never again!!!! In full: Firstly, this is a really really we'll run race and for a great cause. Atmosphere is always good, finish is well supported. Choice of 3 distances a really friendly and nice race and I would recommend people try it. From a personal point I've done this race 3 times and recorded my 3 worst times ever, this year the heat was probably the main factor, however this course is deceptively tough, mile 12 on the gravel track is an absolute killer and even though I know it's coming, it beats me every year. For me this is not a pb course and I wouldn't want any course to beat me but I have to hold my hand up and say, malvern you win. I retire !!! Lol. Just to reiterate the race is excellent and really worth a go. Fantastic medal every year too. Date of review: June 23, 2014
In short: A good day out, very family friendly. In full: This is the 2nd year in a row I have run this event. A well organised family friendly day. The event is also good for the beginners or non serious runners. Marshalls were very friendly and supportive, there were lots of them and overall I would say the event is well organised. If I would have one big feedback to the organisers it would be that if you are going to organise a half marathon in mid June you need bottled water. I would rather pay more and have the safety of bottled water rather than trying to deal with cups on a scorching day. The course is OK and it may be a fast course for some people but for someone like myself who likes to start off slow it is difficult to get around people running amongst the traffic. For what felt like half the race you had to be aware of traffic behind, which is difficult when it is hot and tire early. Date of review: June 23, 2014
In short: A good half marathon but a little hot this year! In full: A really well run half marathon. Plenty of parking, good family atmosphere and a perfect setting for the start/finish. The run itself is mainly flat but a couple of steady hills included (nothing major at all). Potentially quite a quick half but not in the baking sunshine. Legs felt pretty tired by the end. All in all, a very well organised half marathon suitable for all. Date of review: June 22, 2014
In short: Windy but dry In full: Nice course apart from the bad road surface at mile 12 but that wouldn't have been so bad if the wind wasn't howling a gale at that point. Not too much support around the course but friendly stewards. Nice medal and good to see a banana and cereal bar at the finish. Only negative if I was really picky was getting out the car park/field was a bit of a struggle as cars appeared to be blocking the way. Date of review: June 30, 2013
In short: What goes down must come up! In full: As the race starts and finishes in the same place, is gently downhill for the first few miles, then just about flat for 8-9 miles, you have a bit of a climb towards the finish - not entirely unexpected! Definite PB potential though if it wasn't for the windy conditions. Smooth organisation, nice scenery, quality medal and a cheer, cereal bar and banana to finish. What more can you ask for?! Enjoyed this one and I'll be back.
In short: Well organised and marshelled. In full: I enjoyed this race and will definately do it again without having one particular area to shout about. Good large venue to hold the event from. Smoothly organised, well masrshelled. The course is a bit frustrating in places, difficult to run past people along the busier roads and the 12th mile's surface is horrible. Not as well supported as some events, as to be expected with the country course, but where there there were supporters they were very good. Could do with a bag for the items given at the end. When you are trying to catch your breath you do not want a handful of goodies. However overall I enjoyed the morning and will do again. Date of review: June 24, 2013
