In short: Beautiful country race but watch out for spluttering vintage bikes
In full: This had all the ingredients to be one of my favourite races in my local area. Farnborough is a beautiful village with a great pub. The route is through some lovely countryside with a tough ascent to a ridge with excellent views, and a gradual decent to the finish line. The organisation couldn't be faulted.
Sadly though it was really spoilt in the last 6km by a non-stop procession of rickety old motorcycles spluttering their way past us, belching clouds of smoke in our faces. Not what you want when you are pushing yourself to the limit in the latter stages of a race and gasping for air.
The route coincides with a vintage motorcycle rally which was held on the same day. Obviously this is no fault of the organizers. Looking at past comments on this race it looks like this has happened before, and some people actually have said they enjoy the spectacle. Each to their own.
If you prefer the air fresh when you are racing then it could be worth checking the website of the bike rally to check if it will be coinciding with the race again. It is here: http://www.banbury-run.co.uk/

In short: Great country setting on quiet roads with a fairly challenging hill in the middle.

In short: Fabulous scenery, well organised, big hill but chocolate flapjack at the end :-)
In full: Lovely run, very well organised but don't use a field full of cows as a car park! A very organised event with friendly marshalls, lots of water and a good finish although when they say "and after km 7 it's down hill all the way" they lied. There were hills and the display of vintage motor cycles overtaking and kicking out black smoke does not help the motivation. Great supply of water, bannanas and flapjack at the finish but I would rather have had a medal. Took a lot of work to climb that hill!

In short: Gnarly hills and speedy declines
In full: 2nd running of this local-ish event. Had forgotten the gnarly hills between kilometres 6 and 8! Some challenging inclines including a lengthy section off-road. But the scenery and mainly downhill last 3-4 kilometres make the climb more than worth it!

One grumble is that the race clashed with a vintage motorcycle event, meaning that the last 3 kilometres was spent avoiding motorcycles and mouthfuls of exhaust fumes! But a small grumble and the warm reception on the finish lane more than made up for it. I shall be back next year!

In short: I'm not a road runner but as far as road runs go, this one ain't bad
In full: I absolutely hate running on the road and only entered this as I saw it said multi-terrain. Unfortunately it was only after entering that I saw the details and apart from the hill on a stony track (which might as well be classed as road!) it is essentially a road race. However that said they were nice quiet roads with some nice undulations and hills that made it more interesting and plenty of water stops on the way. Plus points? Probably one of the best/nicest road races I've ever done, lots of water on the way round. Minus points, no water at the finish when I got there and one v rude marshall at the car park at the beginning.

In short: Brilliantly organised challenging run with wonderful scenery. Only disappointment was that for those who came in later, there were no cups or water left at the finish:(
