In short: Brilliant race, great atmosphere and marshalls In full: Fairly hilly, but still great for beginners (like us.) Loads of drinks, sign markers and friendly marshalls. Brilliant route with views to take your mind off the "undulating" course. Date of review: July 22, 2007

In short: Much too expensive for a trail run - scenery very disappointing - apart for a few miles on open downs you were hemmed in by trees, hedges and more trees. Date of review: June 27, 2007

In short: A friendly but hard marathon run in nice cool and wet conditions In full: Apparently the 2006 was very hot, this year it was cool about 17C and it chucked it down during the last hour I was running which made running surprisingly pleasant. Course was very good apart from the short lap at the start to make up the full 26.2 miles, which could have done with a bit of pruning or using wider tracks. Another negative the baggage, which was left, unsupervised in a tent at the finish, I would have thought it would have been better and easier for the organisers to leave it in numerical order under supervision on the truck we left it.
Plus points, this was my first off road marathon, hard but very enjoyable, nice bunch of fellow runners. I was very happy with the 5 mile markers which we were told about with joining instructions, bus getting to start was also good. Marshall’s friendly and helpful, can't be fun standing out in the rain at least if you were running you were keeping warm. Water / drinks good as was medal and T shirt.
I would recommend it. Date of review: June 18, 2007

In short: Great 2:09 event as usual. Really enjoyed the challenge. Back for more next year. In full: Now officially my favourite event and my marathon PB after beating my FLM07 time. All those hills must keep the cramp at bay and the cooler weather helped too.
If you want a physical and mental challenge then this is definitely for you. No one will finish this without bags of determination, whatever level you're at. Seeing those hills looming with runners dotted up them to confirm your route does strange things to the mind.
Organisation was good and pretty much as promised pre-race. The extra SiS Go made up for the gels for me. I appreciate all the planning, preparation and clearing up that must have been involved.
Great value for money if you add it up with the quality t-shirt, medal, drinks stations, excellent marshalling, recovery drinks, coach transfer, photographers, chip timing + SMS result confirmation and a great prize list.
Love that M35 category too! I'll be back next year for more of the same. Date of review: June 18, 2007

In short: A day to remember....!!! In full: Apart from the 'welcome downpour' I felt that the weather was kind to us. It certainly is a 'tough run' ,but the feeling of crossing the finish line and then the reflection of your achievement was brilliant! The thing I enjoyed most about the run was the very friendly spirit in which the event took place. The competitors were, without exception, the friendliest bunch of people that I'd ever run with.....so I'd like to thank them and the organisers for a 'day to remember'! Date of review: June 18, 2007
