In short: great venue nice friendly race
In full: The race is run around a lovely lake. And the race HQ is in a pub that has a great big windmill as part of the building, very scenic. The organisers were very friendly, there was a nice relaxed atmosphere about the whole event, with a good mix of runners of all abilities, a good race for a first time run.
There was about a 5 minute walk around the lake to the start, which was nice for the spectators, as we were able to see the whole course, and watch the runners on the other side of the lake, as we made our way back to the finish next to the pub. After just 200 meters we knew who the winner would be as she just ran away from the others. My step daughter started off in second place but soon dropped to fourth where she finished, first junior, I think she might have been the only one in the race. Her time of 22.24 was a new pb. So although a little disappointed at not finishing in the top 3 she was very happy with the time.
There was bananas, choc biscuits and lollipops and water after the race, and a nice meddle, but the only disappointment was that there was no trophies, and I have marked down the value of the race for this. We came to the race looking to take away a trophy and was disappointed not too. A look at the previous results show that not many of the top 3 finishers in the earlier Chick Chase races have returned, So maybe the organisers need to address this. The only other bad thing about the race was the midges, but the organisers have no control over this problem. A nice pint in the pub after the race helped make this a very enjoyable morning.

In short: lake midges ruined the day for me!
In full: Was my first 5k. Atmosphere was lovely, easy to find, loads of parking etc. Race organisers were great, but lack of a proper start was a bit frustrating. Not entirely sure I like the gravel of the footpath, but that is just me and my wobbly ankles. Found it quite a frustrating run in a way. There was the potential to take loads of small shortcuts, I don't think anyone did, and there were no martials in those places. Signage was fine. No km markers which was a nightmare for pacing as you can see the finish coming in and out of closeness all the way round. I had NO idea how far I was to finishing. Chip timing was good, medal lovely, meal in pub after wasn't the best due to poor staffing, good nibbles after provided by the the race organisers.

Supportive (small) crowd.

My enormous critcism is that there were loads of midges round the lake. I got bitten on the face a number of times and ended up at A&E the next day with severe swelling that was affecting my breathing. I'd only in future run there in the winter because of the midges. Thanks for a great day though. Loved the tannoy music black sheep sports did :-)

In short: Well organised race on a lovely spring day
In full: Could have done with km markers to help with pacing, and it would have been nice to have the mens race start first so they can cheer the women on, and see them finish.

In short: Not a lot to say except I continue to participate in this race
In full: For some reason I tend to attract the odd Canadian goose who will not let me pass him on the path so my time builds up as I wait for him to budge a little (I'd rather that than end up in the lake!) Not too keen on the long walk to the start but for it to be 5K I guess that it has to be where it is, otherwise it could be reversed and we would have a long walk after finishing. The pub is good!
