In short: nice scenery, come prepared In full: It is a nice course, a couple of hills - which weren't as bad as I thought at first sight and everything will be even more scenic once the forest works have gone! Nice trail through the trees and quite pretty. The goody bag was good value for the price of entering and the marshalls/organisers/other runners were friendly. The main downside was there was no water on course, and I didn't think this was made very clear in the pre-race info: I had considered bring water but assumed there would be a water station - so I'd rate the race higher if this had been clearer (even a big sign near the car park as I has a spare bottle in the car). Oh, and a group of us nearly got lost at a large crossroads as there was no marshall - most of the course was very well marshalled except this one point. I'd probably do it again now knowing the setup. :-) Date of review: June 18, 2015
In short: Back to its very best In full: After one or two problems in 2013 the Forest Five was back to its very best for 2014. The organisation ran like clockwork with plenty of supportive marshals around the course. Also plenty of support and encouragement around the finish particularly for the runners near the back of the field. Nice goody bag with not one but two different Mars products and a bespoke coaster to put my well earned beer on! Date of review: July 8, 2014
In short: A lovely evening run through the woods In full: This is always a good event. I didn't mind it being only 4.5 miles, it was such a hot evening. I'm pleased with my bar of soap, too. It's nice to get something a bit different, though it'll be a shame to use it. Date of review: July 10, 2013
In short: Excellent In full: This is a great race. The last km or so down to the finish is great. The club deserve praise for the thought they put into the organisation and goody bag. This year accidentally 4.5 miles rather than 5. But someone at the start announced it was accurately measured to 5 miles which was tempting fate ! Date of review: June 22, 2013
In short: A lovely woodland evening run In full: I enjoyed it that much that I didn't even notice the course was short until I'd finished! There wasn't great satellite reception in amongst the trees anyway, so not a big deal. Bracknell Forest Runners and their quietly encouraging marshals did an excellent job. And once again there was an imaginative memento rather than yet another medal or t-shirt! Date of review: June 21, 2013
In short: Nice undulating run through the woods In full: Some people need to grow up or stop thinking they are Mo Farah....mistakes happen, get over it and look at the positives of a great midweek race Date of review: June 21, 2013
In short: A lovely run on a summers evening In full: Really enjoy this race, it's a lovely way to spend a summers evening. I was actually quite relieved to see the finish at 4.5 miles as the humidity made it tough going this year. Very well organised, friendly event and the goody bag is definitely worth having. Will definitely be back next year! Date of review: June 20, 2013
In short: LOVE this race! In full: Everything about this race was perfect: lovely mixture of runners; fab goody-bag; less running than I'd planned to do!
Seriously, I've never finished a race where someone with some sort of GPS hasn't said something like, "It was 4 metres short," or, "It was half an inch long," or some such twaddle, so let's get over it, eh?!
Yes it's nice to have comparative times, but let's get a sense of proportion. None of us are going to set any world records, so we run for fun (however seriously we take it). Yesterday's race was well-organised, friendly and a good giggle.
Well done Bracknell Forest Runners for having enough VOLUNTEERS to put on a super race.
