In short: Worth taking part and run on the same day as The Great South, I'd chose this again for the extra 3.1 miles
In full: Only real disappointment was the lack of goody bag (which had been advertised), also seemed un-rewarding running the half marathon, when my friend ran the 10k and the medals at the end were the same except for the different colour strap - no mention of which race you'd done!. Also, although the buses were good, the queues were long, so I ended up walking back to the start!. Other than that, I'll be there next year.

In short:
In full: first half marathon so would have prefered a less hilly route local run so wife and kids there to cheer me on half way and call ambulance at end
i know it was a cold day but support could have been better torn a ligament at ten miles out so last 3 was agony glad to have finished but like others must complain of the lack of a goody bag next year should be better with flora taking over busses at end taking you back to kings dock for your car were excellent

In short: Great experience, particularly liked the 'sponges ahead' signs!
In full: My first half marathon for 4 years and well worth it. Challenging but great fun, and plenty of water and sponges! Only thing I would say on the organisation front is, like many others, I was upset to learn from this site that there had been a minutes' silence at the start for Ken Bigley; I was half way down the field and had no idea because we couldn't hear a thing. We did think it was strange that the race just started with no warning at all.

In short: excellent organisation, well supported by the local community. good atmosphere. Well done Liverpool!
In full: I approached this race with a little trepidation as this was only my third half marathon (I only started running for the first time last Year since leaving school over thirty years ago). I needn't have worried. Everyone was friendly, the organisation was tip top and of course it was worth the effort to run through one of the UK's greatest cities! The course was not too demanding and visually interesting. This one I can recommend unlike Blackpool which I found boring and hard work for all it was on the level. I will certainly be back next year!
