In short: Fantastic race! In full: This was one of my first races when I moved to London from the States. I absolutely LOVED the race. I ended up getting a PB of 20:19 in the 5k! Course was super flat and organized. The whole thing was really great, it was a pretty cold day. But there was still plenty of fun to go around :) food, t shirts, medals, everything made the whole day even better. Date of review: February 2, 2016
In short: Cute race In full: It's 3 laps for the 15k, so can be a little repeatative. But the Marshalls were absolutely great. A cold day, and they were so cheerful throughout. Bargain of a race. Great goody bag. Most people are doing the 5 and10k so the last lap is a bit lonely (if you're a plodder like me), but would def do it again. Date of review: March 15, 2015
In short: Nice Sunday morning run with a picnic breakfast afterwards In full: 5k (1 lap) or 10k (2 laps) of Clapham Common. Organisation was good but registration queue was a bit long at one point, and as ever, there didn't seem to be enough toilets. This queue delayed the start a bit. Run was mostly on grass and trail, so slightly harder work than running on tarmac, but better on the legs I guess. Marshals did a good job, but hardly any spectators to cheer the runners on. In short: Very enjoyable 10K. Nothing too series and good one for begginers (distance problems seem to be resolved). In full: I was worried about the accuracy of the distance for this race having read some reviews from previous years. However, having carefully mapped out this years course on the internet I made it exactly 10.0K (be iteresting to hear what people with GPS watches made it)
It's a very relaxed atmosphere. They take you through a nice little warm up at the start. The course is soft so kind on the body. Chip timing is used so you get a print off of the result at the end (start to finish and clock time). You get a breakfast bag at the end which is a nice touch.
It's slightly more expensive than most races. However, the money goes to the charity so the majority of people will be perfectly happy with this.
In short: Lovely people but it was short In full: Starfish have confirmed on their website the race was actually 9.07kms due to an error on the day. Very disappointing, although I was having such a bad day I'm secretly pleased! The organisers were lovely and it's just a shame the measurements went wrong. I'd do it again, I'm sure next year they'll double check it! Date of review: October 9, 2009
In short: Nice race, shame about the course being measured poorely.. In full: I should have known it my time was too good to be true!!! 8.8k instead of 10, very dissapointing. My first 10k race as well, not impressed! Date of review: October 6, 2009
In short: Don't trust your GPS thingy!! In full: Okay, this may seem a little precious...but it was my first time so I feel I have the right!! Having mapped out the course on Google Earth its definitely up there around 10K!!! But hey thanks to everyone with a (notoriously inaccurate) GPS thingy for filling me with doubt and self-loathing, its no wonder beginners are put off from entering great little events like this when all they read are disparaging comments from picky and elitist contributors like some of those below!! In short: Course was short :o( In full: Great little run - for a fantastic charity, so I'd do it again for this alone. Very disappointed that the course came up short however. That said, the warm up was brilliant and really got everyone involved - thanks to the whole team! Date of review: October 5, 2009
