In short: Good atmosphere, well organised and everyone was well looked after In full: Enjoyed the race in retrospect as I PBd by over 2 minutes, but at the time it threatened to be a killer, especially the mile long hill at 4 miles. Agreed with the comment about the water station. A very warm night the station was at the 2 mile point, which I shunned in favour of a later one which didn't materialise. Also the pavements are very narrow in places, with little opportunity to overtake on the road due to the heavy Friday night traffic. Other than that very well organised and helpful, friendly marshalls. Date of review: July 11, 2009
In full: Great Friday night race is a good circuit but challenging and was well organised with plenty of marshalls. Your unlikely to get a PB. Beware though pavements are full of pot holes despite being on well used paths - blame North Lincs Council. Made a change to get a kit bag rather than a heavy cotton t shirt - how about a sports towel next year.
In short: Not a great occasion for the newcomer. In full: A no frills approach by the race organisers. Seemed like a training run atmosphere. The water station was at the 4km mark not at the 5km mark, so i ran past thinking there must be two. Pavements were rough and difficult underfoot with tree roots lifting them. To top it off, a much below par bag for a momento. we want medals or T-Shirts, not just a momento because it suits the organisers pocket to produce a cheaper alternative. The run was convenient for me, but i don't know if i'll be back. Date of review: July 11, 2009
In short: Friendly well organised race In full: I've never been to Scunthorpe before and to be honest I was'nt expecting it to be very nice. It was however suprisingly scenic. The race was well organised, friendly staff at the hall and supportive marshalls. Would have prefered a T-shirt to a coaster but all in all it was a worth the visit. Date of review: July 12, 2008
In short: I didn't know that Scunthorpe was so pleasant!!! In full: Entered this event on the day, despite the very threatening weather which thankfully didn't materialise!! Well organised event, enthusiastic marshalls and a good, challenging course around some very pleasant parts of Scunthorpe.
Only slight critisisms would be the placing of the water station after only 2 miles and the disappointing momento - environmentally friendly, yes, but how many people use coasters these days? Date of review: July 11, 2008
