In short: The park was great with lots of mud. In full: The steep hill we had to run up twice was nice and challenging, and it was hilarious trying to jump the river. Date of review: February 16, 2007

In short: Hi Malcolm In full: Just putting in another rating because I'd like to get in touch with the Malcolm Richards who posted the earlier review, dissatisfied with this race. Malcolm, if you'd like some advice in choosing beginner-friendly events in the MK area, I'd be glad to help. Go onto the forum thread for this event. Date of review: December 31, 2006

In short: A great run, but not beginner friendly... In full: As a new runner, and being local to the area, I thought that running in Milton Keynes would be a great start to my new pastime. Unfortunately my running debut was marred by the cliques of organisers and their preferred known runners. No time was given to explain anything, and the attitude of some of the marshalls was at times rude. A few of the runners were very supportive, realising that I was a new runner - but that was the exception as opposed to the rule. I'd suggest a mentoring system which would help new runners (there wasa few there on the day) - and for some of the marshalls, a customer care course ! Date of review: December 20, 2006

In short: Great running in the middle of sheeps, good hills, good mud, good (free) food at the finish line. Is there another one this winter? Date of review: December 19, 2006

In short: Really tough but good fun In full: Great organisation, well marshalled and nice touches with free hot food and biscuits at the finish. Chip timing and easy stick on numbers were great and you could see your finish time and position on a big screen at the end. Tough course made harder by the really soft conditions which got worse with each circuit. Do this one if you like hills! Date of review: December 18, 2006

In short: Great organisation, loved the new stick-on numbers and delicious soup at the end. Well designed course, a bit of everything (hills, streams, mud etc). Friendly atmosphere. Would consider doing whole series next year. Date of review: December 18, 2006

In short: Bloomin' hard but in a very good location and with great organisation including chip timing and hot food at the end. In full: Campbell Park is a great location for a race. It is challenging though with hills and a brook and when it is wet can get very muddy and indeed boggy. Also slippery down the hills. You'd want to wear trail shoes. In fact I was glad I wore spikes. The organisation included sticky numbers, chip timing and hot soup at the finish.
Only organisational improvement I could think of was to marshall the turn up to the Belvedere. The preceding marshall did advise to run up to the tapes and then turn but most seemed to ignore this and turn up earlier at an angle Date of review: December 18, 2006

In short: Good but tough race very well organised. In full: My first XC, did the 10k which was very hard and this seemed to be the general opinion but did a respectable time and would do it again, only fell over once in the mud which is pretty good going for me. Well done to the marshalls for the encouragement. Date of review: December 18, 2006

In short: really hard but the great organisation, a good atmospere and a good course all helped make it memorable for the right reasons. In full: Ouch! I didn't read the recommendation to do the 5k if a beginner to C/C until after I'd entered the 10k! So I found this really hard but the great organisation, a good atmospere and a good course all helped make it memorable for the right reasons. I will be back in 2007 having done some hill training and I take this course on properly. Well done to the organisers and a big thumbs up to the new sticky race numbers ad well.
