In short: Very narrow bottleneck shortly after start. Some short steep scrambly sections. One long gradual hill halfway. Tree cover provided welcome shade. Date of review: August 31, 2006

In short: Very tough but overall very satisfying. In full: Did this for Meningitis Research Foundation in memory to my nephew Kai, and had my small army of very vocal, purple clad supporters cheering me on round most of the course (except the really tough hill section 3k - 7k), excellent day out met some friendly celebs, got a good time despite the tough course and will be back to try and beat my modest 55.34 time next year. Cheers. G. Date of review: August 23, 2006

In short: Didn't remember it being this tough ! Last year it seemed easier ! In full: August is a better time of year for the run (last year was October). Itw as tanking down in Edinburgh so I was expecting a suicidal death course - but the weather was fantastic !
My race pack hadn't arrived and I was issued with a new one with no problems from nice friendly staff !
Well organised but VERY TOUGH !
The hills at the start are killers but then it never really evens out ! The last 2k across the golf course are killers too !
But its a cool race to do and well worth it !
Very enjoyable ! Date of review: August 21, 2006

In short: Much tougher than anticipated but pleasant location. In full: Having taken a 'break' from prep for Loch Ness, I'd hoped to smash my PB for the 10k as a bit of light relief. First 3k were very fast but then the next 3k was very tough. Steep hills and some hard valleys that needed scrambling up. Thankfully I found a partner to keep me going and we bombed the last 2k.
This seemed very civilised with no crowding at the start and people able to find their own pace. The support from onlookers was good and the number of TV cameras gave one stage fright.
All in all a nice break from 3 hour treks around hills but much tougher than I had expected. Date of review: August 20, 2006
