In short: Great fast course in a great setting
In full: Nice atmosphere, very well organised race, fast course suitable for a 5k pb, I got mine as it was the first 5k for me! :) Hoping to get down there for the last race to try for a new pb!
Nice fun kids race too, I think they did 1km but all came in looking happy & got a medal & clap from all of the 5k runners lined up for their race.
All of this followed by fish & chips sitting by the harbour, an excellent evening!

In short: Friday night's all right for racing!
In full: This was the only race of the Series I could engage in this year, and has become a poignant and somewhat emotional race for me, for personal reasons.

It was good to have timing chips this year, and bananas and choccie bars at the end as well as water. Nice medal too. The race was well organised, and as always, was a fun family event with the children's race beforehand. We always have to do battle with the westerly wind on the way out, which buffers you on the way back as well! But that's what happens when you run close to the sea!

All in all, a wonderful event put on by Martin and Cathy Burke, but a race with a personal poignancy for me now. And that is what will now always make it special.

In full: This remains a fast, flat course. If the winds stay low like they did this year, it's a great course for attempting PB.

I did wonder how much attention the St. John's Ambulance staff were paying attention to the runners coming in, as I had to alert them to a collapsed runner only metres from where they were stood. Still, it was nice of them to turn up!

In short: A great way to start the weekend.
In full: Some nice new touches this year, a start/finish gantry for the 10k race, and chip timing though the organisers were let down for the 5k races. Familiar course which had had some resurfacing done in places, which made it smoother, though elsewhere there were some substantial pot-holes, which need attending to.

This is the fourth year I have taken part in the series, nice medals and a good family atmosphere, especially with the childrens race beforehand. As always, Martin and Cathy Burke put on a fun family event, which is to be applauded. Well done.
