In short: Hills, mud, hills, fog, did I mention the hills? But the T-shirt made it all worthwhile
In full: Living locally, I had a fair idea of how tough this course was going to be. And yes, as expected, the hills were killers especially that last one. Beautiful course, just a shame the fog meant we couldn't appreciate the views from the tops of the hills.

Must say a huge thank you to the marshals. As one of the slower racers, they had already been stood outside for a long time in freezing conditions. However they universally smiling, chatty and encouraging. Thank you.

Great t-shirt at the end - I've worn it with great pride, as its the race t-shirt I think I've worked hardest for.

Thanks Chippenham Harriers!

In short: An off-roader's paradise - with killer hills and thick muddy paths to navigate!
In full: A really low key event but one worth entering. A very local feel, most of the runners were affiliated to local clubs - however this race had various abilities, so didn't feel elitist in any way. Good organisation, plenty of marshalls, decent facilities, and a tough hilly course! Great to run through a river towards the end, and that final hill......an experience to say the least! Good effort to all involved.

In short: Tough, muddy, steep, wet, BRILLIANT
In full: First go at this, would definitely do again - hats off to the organisers. And to the marshals for standing out in the cold (and fog) shame the fog hung about as I was looking forward to the view from the top - there has to be some incentive after all!!
A hard race, no matter how fit you are. But a great sense of having worked for the t-shirt :)
Well done Chippenham.

In short: A perfect day for a perfect (but tough) run
In full: This is my fourth consecutive Slaughterford 9 and it was as good (and tough) as ever. The hills don't get any easier, but then I don't get any younger! Brilliant organisation. Thanks to the "orange givers" at the farm and the wonderful cakey display afterwards: of which I availed myself! Will be back again next year.

In short: A tough but thoroughly enjoyable race.
In full: The race was well-marshalled and the organisation was great. The spirit amongst runners was really friendly - thanks to the man who helped me out of the water!! Special thanks to the people who hand out oranges - gave me a welcome boost! I've done this race 3 times now and definitely plan to do it again next year.

In short: Tough but well worth it!
In full: A friend has done this race many times; it came with a warning of being a toughie. Brother and I debuted this year (myself finishing in a respectable 1h14m) and what an event it is. Some killer hills, a surprising amount of mud considering the dry-weather spell of late, and a very welcome river crossing towards the end. I feel the event's tagline line "... with a sting in it's tail" doesn't really come close to what faces you in the last mile! Will be back next year for sure.

Well done Chippenham Harriers on an outstanding race.
