In short: Tough - particularly miles 3 thru 5 and the steep last hill at 9 was very hard

In short: Definitely not one for a PB but very well marshalled route and jelly at the end very welcome. The hills make this very much a race of two halves.

In short: Does what it says - a great confidence booster for the GNR
In full: This was my first race and I'd read the comments carefully before deciding to take the plunge. I'm glad I did. The marshalls were all very friendly and encouraging.

There was a single long queue for the gents' cubicle in the toilets which I decided I didn't have time to join. My wife said later that she spotted some public toilets on the other side of the car park (although I don't know if they were open(!), so perhaps this could be mentioned on the form or somewhere are toilet facilities did appear to be very limited for men and women. I remembered the public toilets in Corbridge and decided that my comfort came before time and nipped in there during the race. Felt much better for it, (though this is probably more information than you need to know).

The forecast was warm and I was really concerned about dehydration, especially as one poster mentioned that there was only one cup of water available at the water station. Seems to have been fixed. Some very smiley girls were offering 500ml bottles of water at 4 and 7 miles so I needn't have worried.

I really loved this race and it was great for a beginner.

In short: an accurate use of the word undulating - hurrah!
In full: having never been to this part of the world before and been worried by the very hilly approach on the a68 this race was pleasantly undulating.

there was a bit of traffic dodging to be done around corbridge which felt a wee bit hairy at times but the course was lovely with some nice long flat stretches and some lovely downhills.

there was a very welcome surprise of extra water at mile 7 (all the miles were very clearly marked) which was greatly appreciated.

i thoroughly enjoyed this race and would be keen to take part again another year. the jelly at the end had run out by the time we had crossed the finish line, but the ginger cake i had instead went down a treat.

In short: Very nice run. Glorious Northumberland scenery and a challenging course.
In full: This was my first time doing a 10 mile race and it was a lovely run.

Improvements for next year. The Start and Finish banners being above the course so you can see them properly. Lots of people wondering if they'd finished at the end. Apart from that everything was great.
