In short: Great warm up for the GNR (especially for a first timer) In full: Nice friendly marshalls, with enough water, and the sponge station around 8 miles was a great idea. I rated '2: aggressive' for PB potential as I've not done a 10 mile before, so did find those last couple of hills a bit tough - more experienced runners would manage it a lot easier I guess. It was just about right for me - flat to start with, with a nice challenge towards the end. I like the mug (better than an XL T-shirt, which we slower runners always seem to get left with) - have already had 2 cups of tea in it! Date of review: September 16, 2007

In short: Great pre gnr run In full: Really enjoyed this one. Like the idea of a mug at the end! (apparently he had loads left over from last year but this year had so many last minute entries he ran out, so did apologise!). A great one as a last long run before the great north run especially as the course was basically flat with a couple of short but v steep hills at the end as a final challenge. Atmosphere among the runners was great and everyone was v frinedly. Great changing facilities at the end so you can go off and enjoy the rest of the day in the surrounding area which is v pretty! Shame the police didn't turn up but it was a brave decision to let us run anyway, especially as some had travelled so far. I'll be back next year! Date of review: September 18, 2006

In short: An excellent warm up for the Great North Run! In full: Super flat & fast, a few very gentle hills in the last couple of miles but really nothing to slow you down. Organisation was great (2 water stops, one 'wet sponge' stop, mug, choccy & water at the end. My only concern was the lack of marshalls/police to help us cross the big A64 round-a-bout near the start, there were a few impatient motorists which made it a bit hairy! Nice & friendly with a good mix of club & non-club runners. Date of review: September 17, 2006

In short: decent race, nice route no too challangeing nothing flash but one worth doing! In full: good race, nice route and despite ppl sayign its hilly 2ndhalf i was pretty happy with it, 3 hills in last 3 miles but really nice downhill sections too, and a really good atmosphere at end. not impressed with the number tho! mine tore off afetr a couple of miles onc eit got a little damp!! also not impressed with being told..too many entrants and so not enough mugs for everyone..hmmm limit of 350 and at most 260 being there (highest number i saw) hmm doesnt sound like too many runners to me...i now have to drink my tea straight from the pot!!
