In short: Windsor Park a lovely setting. Quite hilly which was a shock for me normally running on the flat! Great medal and no toilet queues!

In short: Third time and another PB
In full: This was the third time I'd run this race - the first time I'd not been running long and it took me 50 minutes. Last year I came in 17th with 38:22 and yesterday 15th with 38:04. It's a real beginners' race, but there were a few club runners there. It was a much cooler day than it was the last two years, but still beautiful weather.

The organisation is good although it was unfortunate that it had rained so much and made the car parking field (and indeed the event field so muddy). Fortunately the whole race is on tarmac.

There were lots of loos but loads of them were locked - saving them for the half marathon today maybe?

But they did a lovely event t-shirt this year and the medal was fab - really caught the atmosphere of 2012 and was very apt for Windsor Castle!

In short: Brilliant race and made by the weather.
In full: Well organised, mostly supportive race officials (a bit more cheering by marshalls earlier in the race). Very good for all shapes, sizes and experience of runners. Some more mesh sheeting around the runners village and better entrance/exit routes due to boggy conditions would have been good. More kit shops etc, not a lot to do before and after the race. A sign for inexperienced runners heading into the final straight (which was soooo long) saying not to sprint as some were kicking way too early. Overall, loved it.

In short: its uphill for the first 5km
In full: well organised with lots of friendly marshalls. Could do with more water stations as it was a very hot day. The lack of a goody bag at the end was a disappointment considering the cost of the race

In short: Good atmosphere
In full: Last year I did this race, got a stitch and had to run/walk it, so it took me 50 minutes. This year I finished in 38:22, came 17th and was delighted. The medal was the same but came on a 2011 ribbon. You got bottles of lucozade and water at the end.

The race is quite undulating but nothing too horrible hill-wise. There was just one water station at the 3k mark, I think they needed another one as it was very hot. There were enough loos, as there always seems to be for ladies-only races. Other organisers, please note.

I also like the fact that you can buy a t-shirt, it's not included in an inflated entry fee so you have the choice as to whether to have one or not. Although it's cotton I bought one as they are a nice feminine shape.

All in all this is a good race. The only thing I would suggest is maybe offering some food at the end - bananas and a chocolate bar?

Definitely a beginners' race and a race for those stepping up from 5k fun runs. But there were some club runners there too.

In short: It was alright
In full: Windsor Great Park is always a lovely (if hilly) venue for a race and this was no exception - especially in the glorious September sunshine.

However, having done the half marathon in previous years I couldn't help feeling that this race was just a bolted on event to make the most of the fact that the organisers had already forked out for the toilets / tents / timing /etc and raise a bit of extra cash.

My whinges - there was no start gantry or obvious line, it wasn't clear when the start had happened (didn't hear the horn or whatever), there was only one water station (and it was hot), there was a bus on the course at one point (!) and, although the medal was nice, I really missed my race standard issue bag of leaflets and a Mars Bar.

On the plus side it was nice to see so many ladies running together - a real mix of people - and, due to the following days half marathon, there were plenty of toilets and parking facilities.

I guess I'm just demanding when it comes to races :)
