In short: flat fast scenic
In full: I travelled up from Cornwall to run this race with my daughter who was then unable to run (work). I arrived all alone in my club shirt but as always in Birmingham i was made to feel very welcome. The race was well organised, well marshalled, and even the competitors struck up conversation as they overtook. Sorry i couldn't chat more Ian, the cold air had stolen my voice. The route would have been more scenic if the sun had shone, but it was all off road with the only obstacles being rather a lot of dogs and their owners. Ankles remained intact and i remained upright. I managed my fastest 10k this year, enjoyed a cuppa and cake at the race HQ but won no prizes even though i came in as 8th woman but 3 other over 50's were ahead of me. would i run this race again....yes if visiting my daughter, and especially as their were no Cornish style hills to run up!

In short: Wonderful fast flat 10k in park setting
In full: A superbly organised 10k road race which is ideal for both first time/Beginner runners and 'Fasties' seeking a PB time.

The Foundation for Conductive Education being based on the edge of Cannon Hill Park put on an excellent race allowing great use of the facilities beforehand with plenty of toilets, refreshments, storage facilities and somewhere to keep warm on a cold day.

The route itself is a 2 lap fast flat course taking in the scenic Cannon Hill Park and a fairly long 'out n back' path all the way down to Kitchener Road, south of the park.

After the run, the HQ had a wide range of cakes and drinks (and the chance to warm up again :) ) as well as a nice presentation ceremony with plenty of 'spot prizes' on offer.

It's quite a low key event with around 170 runners but it has deservedly been growing in recent years and 2012 saw a record attendance. Furthermore the results were published within a few hours of the finish despite the fact there was no chip timing.

All-in-all a great event and all in aid of a great cause too. From a personal viewpoint I'll remember this race for the rest of my life as it enabled me to break the 40 minute 10k barrier for the first time and successfully achieve a target I had set myself at the start of the year.

Well done to all involved at the Foundation for Conductive Education. I look forward to running the race again.

In short: A good race for the move from park run to 10k
In full: This was a good race for anyone wanting to move up from the Saturday morning park run.

Lovely atmosphere and great homemade cakes at the end.

My one problem was other park uses, I appreciate it is everyones right of way but they made no effort to get out of the way of runners. It seemed everyone else had more right to be there than us.

But I will probably be back again nexy year :-)

In short: Nice, small friendly race
In full: As a regular at Cannon Hill park I signed up for this as it was nice and local and thought it would be good fun instead of a training run. I thought it was really well organised, with free cloakroom, refreshments and well signed and marshalled for a small race. An event website would be helpful. I'll definitely return next year.

In short: One of running's best-kept secrets!
In full: Well organised, great atmosphere. You will lose a few seconds on the occasional hairpin but make no mistake, it's a fast course. Hope they can pull in even more runners next year as it raises money for a great cause.

In short: Uniquely wonderful low key event
In full: Superbly organised and extraordinarily well catered for given event size. Friendly and helpful marshalls . Winding course on park paths with opportunity for some duck hurdling or dog vaulting for the budding steeplechasers. And for charity. A couple of sharp turns may make a pb difficult, but on the other hand, it`s pretty flat. Overall, it doesn`t get much better for an event like this !

In short: Good fun 10k, nice flat course (mostly!)
In full: Great organisation and a better goody bag than the Birmingham Great Run! Can't be bad. A fixture for next year - i'd say so
