In short: Slightly dull route & another water station would have helped
In full: Slightly dull route & speeding traffic made life unpleasant for those of us at the back. Especially disliked the last mile as had to stop to cross a busyish road and then run past finish on pavement on a loop to make up the mileage. Shame race doesn't show Salisbury off better - but guess this would be expensive if road closures needed...

In short: Definately one to mark on your calendar for 2011.
In full: Well done to the organisers! This was a great race with superb conditions. We were very lucky with the weather, the scenery was beautiful, the course was interesting and mildly challenging and the atmosphere was friendly. Well worth the 2 hours travelling time to get to the race.

A real godsend for pre-race nerves to have so many loos right by the start.

Can't believe the complaints!! As far as I can tell, the race information said finishers would get a medal. I got a medal, T-Shirt, Mars-bar and a drink! Don't go to Silverstone 10K, you get nothing but a memory of having run the famous track! Don't go to other countless races, you just get a medal or a T-Shirt – nothing else! Stroud only had 3, yes 3 drink stations! (fantastic event by the way). Marshals and drink helpers give their time up for free – its quite never racking the first time and only a tiny minority ever thank them, but then they have the pleasure of picking up all the cups. I wonder how many took a sponsorship form for this great cause? Also about 20 people watched the winners get their prizes – everyone else had gone home!

In short: Yet again a really warm welcome to a fantastic event. Great day but sort out your results system. Really poor. Also maybe consider a women's team prize. We'll be back though!!r

In short: Lovely Sunday run!!
In full: Gorgeous run - not sure how it would have been in less clement weather!! Ran with a friend so not hoping for PB & thoroughly enjoyed the run. Bit of a beastie hill at 5 miles but had read previous ratings & was ready for it! Found the finish a bit harsh, running past the start & then round the playing field before finishing??

As for the commenst about goody bags - I wasn't expecting one & they are usually a bit rubbsih so actually not bothered about missing out. And the water stations, yes another one would have been nice but it was no drama (although could have been had I been running my usual pace??).

On the whole it was a friendly, well organised race & bearing in mind the usual race entry fees it was very good value!! And the scenery was fantastic!!

In short: A great race,nice....do it!!
In full: This was my 2nd half marathon race, only been running a year so not got much experience or to compare, but found it a great day,yes there is a hill(quite along one)and a few small up hill sections later on but nothing to worry about.great running though the valley, with trees and countyside.great views and small but nice local support.

Be real nice to see this event grow into a bigger one.

Traffic not really a prob,as there way good signs showing that there was a race on.

Not a place to get a pb but 100% doing it nextyear!!

In full: oh and the (100) goody bags were donated from the earlier Clarendon Marathon. Otherwise all we would of had was a mars bar and a medal.

In short: good run but......
In full: Haven't done this race for a while and thought i'd enter rather than travel all the way to cardiff. Having read what others said a agree with some but could have easily solved with a little thought. 1. Why not tell the front runners that goody bags are limited so only take one if you want (i would have been happy not to get one if i'd realised they were in short supply) 2. director DID state that water stop at 5 miles might not be there in his defence - he should of had a mike BUT people should LISTEN to the pre race chat rather than talk among themselves ; then they would know.

All in all i found the lack of marshall only in the last mile (back along in front of the station and around the fields - where the guy in front of me took a wrong turn and i had to shout to tell him!!)

I was upset to that most of the faster runners could not find the time to cheer on the back markers - especially when they pass you with 1/2 a mile to go!! Lovely course and great run no matter what

In short: Excellent bumpy course, always like the ease of parking at start
In full: Phew I've read a few complaints about this one which is a pity because the fire station guys regularly throw great events. Those who didn't get a goody bag shouldn't worry - its was the usual assortment of nothing (I really wouldn't bother with these full stop, any race). I agree on the water stops - I would have expected at least one more but it wasn't the end of the world. The guy at the start really needed a PA/megafone as nobody could hear it and I would definitely have the start on the road like the 10m to avoid the congestion.

All-in-all a nice small event half marathon at a good value price.

So that aside, this is a cracker of a race. Lovely country course with plenty of testing hills but a really fast final 3/4m. Traffic for me was no issue and I didn't think more marshalls were really needed. Gun to chip is fine for me on a small race like this and I have my own watch anyway.

In short: Great smoothly organised local race.
In full: This is a fantastic local race that does not suffer from the crowds associated with more popular venues. You park next to the start, there is access to the sports centre for all facilities - and no queues! The run itself is through gentle countryside with a few undulations for good measure. This is so much more relaxed and fun that your big city races.
