In short: A break from the norm, something different
In full: I enjoyed myself so much, the rain and the mud made this event so much better. It was a nice break from the road and trying to get a good time, just took it a lap at a time until I had been up THE HILL 20 times. Thanks also to Rory the organiser for his support.

In short: My favorite race was even more fun in the mud
In full: that was fun, the tough challenge was made even harder because of the mud. It was the third time I have run the race and I train on the course, and I would never have dreamt of getting up that hill in those conditions. After a few laps It would have been almost impossible to climb the hill with out the ropes. But that made it all the more fun and probably made the climb easier as you could rest your legs and pull yourself up. That's not to say there is anything easy about getting up that hill. As you run laps you get lots of support from other runners as you pass each other. For me the only thing that was missing this year was the cake and chocolate bars Rory provided for an energy boost.
I love this race and will be back for my 4th crack at the 1/2, the marathon is to far for me, in the autumn.
If you fancy a challenge this is the race for you give it a go.

In short: I may have trouble walking today but I have a big smile on my face!
In full: A combination of great scenery, that 'Hill', mud, wreckless downhill, 21 laps (praying that you were being counted down each time), low-key but spot-on organisation, heavy rain, and great commaraderie between runners and support from the hardly onlookers.

My attitude was to take it easy to ensure that I finished this awesome marathon. That 'hill' was like something that I've never encountered in an event before. It was just so majestic and fantastic, and I came back time after time to do battle against churned up mud and sheer gradient with some comfort provided by the ropes (to haul yourself up the final third) or the thick overgrowth either side of the main throughfare (that was less direct to the summit but did give you more traction)!

This is an event that will stay with me for many years, and the sheer fulfilment you get when reaching that finish line and being given your medal makes it all worthwhile.

Thanks to everyone that made this an unforgettable day.

In short: A must Do
In full: Still think we should have come up the long hill Mr Coleman after the easy rope climb. To many people are finishing.

In short: Tough fun!
In full: The rain & mud added to the whole experience!
Did the marathon so 20 laps, which didn't bother me at all, knew what was coming the whole time, even if that meant going up the hill on hands & knees!

In short: For those looking for something a little different...
In full: I enjoyed this race despite THAT hill, the ropes cutting my hands and the endless mud! Really not possible to run the whole lap though which is a little dissapointing. Great atmosphere and the organisation was fantastic!
