In short: What more do you need as an incentive to run fast? In full: Brilliant race. Great morning out for the entire family. Good parking and easy to find. A couple of slow inclining hills but nothing too hardcore. Otherwise a nice run through country lanes along roads. Good finish at the end on a cricket pitch - but be careful not to think you're at the end too soon because you have to go ALL the way around the field before finishing. Large selection of beautiful and very tasty cakes (raspberry sponge was excellent) and beer on tap (gave that to my dad!) Great atmosphere and good marshalling.
One thing I will say is only two portaloos causes a bit of a queue! Date of review: June 13, 2013
In short: Great race but would be nice to have a medal rather than beer! In full: Yes I know the beer is the point of it but I like my medals :) My husband did this two years ago when the weather was awful so it was great to turn up on Sunday and run in pleasant weather.
The course is a little hillier than I'd anticipated but not too bad. The marshals are very encouraging and it's all well organised. The only improvement for me would be to get the results out faster - or give a date/time by which the results will be published if that's not possible. Date of review: June 4, 2013
In short: A great friendly race. In full: This was an excellent race. Very well organised with friendly, supportive marshals and spectators. Who wants a tee-shirt or medal for a five miler....give me a pint of Fullers and homemade upside down pineapple cake anytime! .....even my wife enjoyed her first pint of Fullers! Well done Romsey Road Runners and everyone else who helped. Date of review: June 3, 2013
In short: Friendly, smaller local run, with beer In full: It's my first race with beer afterwards - I now realise it should be compulsory. Well organised by the local running club, very rural, very friendly marshals. Date of review: June 17, 2012
In short: Quiet country lanes, cake and beer. In full: This was my first time running it and all I can say is bravo! The race started on time and well organised at the cricket pitch then took the runner on a twoish lap course around the quiet country lanes of Braishfield. There were a few inclines and descents but nothing to worry about and although not a traffic free course, the traffic was negligible (I think I saw one car). The race finished with a lap of the village green, where lots of spectators and finishers were cheering others on, after which a wonderful selection of home made cakes and a pint of fullers/soft drink were waiting for the runners. Brilliant race and delicious cake! See you next year! Date of review: June 17, 2012
In short: Rain? What rain?! In full: As ever, a well organised, friendly event, with a great mix of club runners and beginners alike. The light rain was actually very pleasant to run in. Later, the heavy rain during the prizegiving not quite so nice! Free Fullers beer very nice, and the cake was gorgeous (particularly the ginger cake!) Thanks RRR. Date of review: June 13, 2011
In short: Lovely race, shame about the weather this year In full: A very good run,, the comment before about being lapped by the faster runners. It happened to me to , never mind. Thank you for an excellant morning run with friendly marshalls and other helpers. Date of review: June 12, 2011
In short: Friendly village race In full: Well organised, easy plentiful parking & toilets, marshals very friendly and encouraging especially considering the crap weather! I'm sure the scenery was quite nice but I was too busy wiping rain from my eyes to see :) The shorter 2nd lap was a bonus-I thought we had to do the big hill again! Not sure whether it was depressing or inspiring to be lapped so early on-possibly a bit of both! Although I did manage a pb so maybe the speedy club runners shamed me into hurrying along :) Wonderful array of homemade cakes at the end, thank you to all the bakers-I had a cupcake with blue icing which was delicious! I had a refreshing orange juice and lemonade instead of the beer at the end, but everyone who had the beer seemed pleased with it! This race is made by the organisers, marshalls, cake bakers, supporters etc so thanks to all who were involved in some way. See you next year!
