In full: One of the best races in the south of England. No doubt the Runners World conclusion will be 'report to moderator' based on the race having zero pb potential as it is off-road with 1500' of climb (Grow up Runners World!). The only report I'll give to the moderator is 'bloody great race, same again next year please'. If you like running on flat roads through boring housing and industrial estates to get that elusive pb this race is not for you. But if you want inspiration from the scenery you're running through give this a go. And there is such a thing as a pb for the course.

In short: Friendly event, no frills, does what it says
In full: First time of doing this event, enjoyed the climbs and descents, but got a bit bored running up and down the same paths. Nice view on Holmbury Hill. Had to wait a little to get over the stile near the start and then difficult to pass runners for a few hundred metres before opening out on wide paths. Water stations were frequent, with supportive marshals.

In short: Great organisation at unbelievable, i thot i was on holiday and then icame the hills !
In full: my first XC Half marathon and boy i was pleased . everythig was just perfect on this bright and sunny sunday morning, excellent parking , toilet/shower facilities, smooth registration, great marshalling , timely drinks, and above all a great course, very unpredictable terrain . The hill climb from 11 mile to 12.25 mile put the endurance to real test. Finished in 1:51 and somehow managed to sprint in the end .. very very enjoyable.. definitely doing this again

In short: An incredibly tough cross country half marathon set in beautiful countryside
In full: Very good value for money, superb organisation, friendly marshals and runners, a well marked out course criss-crossing up and down through beautiful countryside- what more could you ask for? A PB?- NO CHANCE!

Well played Blackwater Valley Runners!

In short: Up, up, up...down, down, down... up, up up...
In full: This is one of the cleverest designed routes I have ever run. The constant criss crossing is amazing and for that alone Ralph Henley deserves an award for designing the route. As to the terrain a wonderful galumph through the Surrey hills on a sunny Sunday morning. Some great views and lovely woodlands. Boggy for sure in places and darned tricky hills and climbs but oh so rewarding. The long last climb from miles 11 and 12 is a real test of stamina towards the end of a hard race. Great manning of the water stations and superb marshalling and all good fun. Thank you I will be back and next year do arrange for the same weather please as I am a very happy Surrey Slogger in the sun and oh so pleased not to see rain and grey clouds.

In short: Fun in the Surrey Hills!
In full: I think I've done this one for the last 10 years. Great little traily kind of a race with just the right organisation. Tough hill to get up to Holbury Hill. Then up and down the v.long sandy slopes (4 times ish) with a few short, sharp hills mixed in before another plunge back down to the finish right next to the start. Took it not to bad up the first tough hill. So had enough puff for the rest and it worked! Mostly up though fir woods but the views from the summit at Holmbury just before 9 miles are superb. Thanks to the cheerful marshals and organisers and for kick starting the Summer!
Sign me up for next year, I think!
