In short: My first winter race off road....worried as it was a small field of runners.
In full:
Enjoyed it despite my nerves...marshalls encouraged in the right places and the members of public were great. Nearly went home before we started as the start was delayed...and my nerves kicked in.
Informed at the start that the first 25 runners across the finish would get a special pack...what about us at the back who really are not elite runners but make the effort didn't we derserve something special???

Disappointed that I didn't have a medal to show all the people that had sponsored me - lucky they believed me when I said I had run.

Depsite that will do it again.

Lynn :)

In short: Well marked and marshalled, friendly, challenging, scenic run.
In full: Winter races must start on time - this was delayed 20 mins for no reason that was obvious to the competitors. An earlier start time would reduce the pedestrian/dog traffic which was potentially hazardous in a public park. Awards should be reviewed to ensure fairness to the ladies. Some paper results pinned up on the day would have been useful. Otherwise a well marked, friendly, scenic and challenging run. Comments regarding course marking are not justified. There was a clear map, plenty of enthusiastic marshalls and as it was only a short lap it was quite possible to preview the entire course beforehand if runners arrived early enough. Overall a very good first effort.

In short: Makes a great change from road races - weather just right for a good mix of mud and sunshine. Course was challenging but very varied - climbs, descents, steps and lots of dogs being walked.

In short: Good race; could be great
In full: Wonderful surroundings, nice course and decent cafe/toilets. I know this is the first time the race has been run but I think it could be improved by:
a. Keeping to start time. We got very cold and miserable hanging around for an extra 20 mins.
b. Maybe starting earlier eg 9.30 or even 9am. Luckily, the pedestrians on the course were all v friendly and accommodating but could foresee incident/accident at some stage as paths quite narrow when you are negotiating mountain bikers, dogs, buggies etc.
c. Some of us went off course a few times! In a few places, markers could be more obvious.
d. You could tweak prizes by, eg, giving the Reebok bags to some of faster women. By giving the bags to first 25, only 1 or 2 go to women.
e. I realise this race is for a great cause but how about a certificate or something for first 3/first vet etc?

In short: Races on cold days must start on time
In full: Lovely course - woods, hills, forest trails, not too much mud. Friendly marshals and course quite well marked. Very cold at start though having to wait until 10:50 for 10:30 start. Good goody bag and extra Reebok bag for 1st 25 runners.

In short: Great start to the season
In full: A wonderfully playful and scenic run through mud splashes, steep climbs and log leaps. Great fun. Organisation needs tightening. The start was delayed by 15 minutes without explanation. Rather naughty for such a small event, especially on a cold day - people had to go back to their cars to keep warm. Also, even though the course was well marshaled and roped off at appropriate points, there were still points at which it was possible to wander off course if not paying close attention. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the day and will 100% be doing this next year. Strong recommendation.
