In short: A downhill run with a flat section and a surprise at the end.
In full: Deceptive downhill run. Makes it feel easier. Great atmosphere. Many to talk to. Very friendly town. Stayed overnight Saturday before race. Bus shuttle to start excellently organised. Only problem was the "bridge" over the river near the end. It had no steps but was a shocker to a newcomer like me. Then there was the almost full lap of a track at the end. That was expected as you see it while waiting for the shuttle.
I recommend you try it. Stay over the night before and get a good rest, then party afterwards. Love Aberdare.

In short: Fast course, very beginner-friendly; organization shows considerable scope for improvement
In full: If you've never run a 10k before and want a nice gentle introduction - this is a great race. It's a predominantly downhill course with a very varied field. However, the organization was very primary-school-fete. The buses from the event parking (at the finish) to the start of the race were both late and sporadic, resulting in much standing around and the start of the race being delayed. The timekeeping was rather lax after about 48 minutes, with variances of up to 10 seconds between the race clock and the published results. The marshalling was a little erratic: there appeared to be a marshall missing at the end of the footbridge, and some of the later marshalls went AWOL before the last runners had come through.

This is an event where the primary objective seems to be to get plenty of folk completing the distance and raising money for charity. Personally, I'd rather write them a cheque and then go chase my PB somewhere else.

In short: Great course and atmosphere with a track finish!
In full: Lovely course from Penderyn village down to Aberdare. Well organised with many marshalls helping you on your way. Buses from Aberdare to Penderyn for the start. Gently downhill out of Penderyn through Hirwaun, under a subway and on through the steets of Aberdare to the finish. Tricky footbridge to get over just before the finish, but well worth the track and grandstand finish at the Michael Sobell sports centre. An excellent event!

In short: Very quick course. If you can't do a PB here something has gone horribly wrong!
In full: A few organisation hiccups, the lack of buses to get you to the start was a problem. We ended up driving and saw 2 of the buses parked up by a burger van! Lots of marshalls did a great job at roundabouts etc. Could do with one coming off the roadbridge as I didn't know if I should go right or left. Liked the big clock at the finish, kept me working hard to dip under 36 minutes (by 1 second!)

In short: Potential PB race
In full: Ran this race last years and again this year. This year the weather was nice nad warm. Pretty much same route as last year but still nice flat/downhill, so as the one line summary says. Will look to do next year again.

In short: where's the results ?
In full: Did this race last year too. My Garmin was telling me it was about 100m longer than last year. Did they change the course slightly or move the start back ??

Also it was chipped timed last year so results came out quickly. Anybody seen any for this year yet.

In short: A gem of a race.
In full: Excellent value for money, great organisation. Pure speed of a course with a nice trackside finish, the prettiest marshals I have ever seen and a new PB by 2 minutes. What more can you ask for? Well a later start for one!

In short: Good race for beginners. Ideal for PBs. Some stewards lacked the 'go on' factor....

In short: A good fast 10K race!
In full: Very well organised race with the free transport from the sports centre in Aberdare to the start at Penderyn
.This is an ideal first race or a definate P.B. for the more seasoned runners, with the last few k/m slightly downhill.
