In short: Very enjoyable race for my 1st 10km. More hills than I thought there would be though!
In full: Scenary was amazing. I had to stop myself from looking around too much so that I didn't lose my footing on the uneven ground. The start was a bit of a mess but apart from that the organisation was 1st class & the marshals were very encouraging.

In short: my first 10k race - very enjoyable
In full: As everyone else seems to have said, it was more cross-country than expected, but that added to the fun of it for me. Still, I aimed for under an hour for my first 10k (without realising it was so cross-country) and still managed to achieve my goal.

Great scenery, very friendly marshalls (and plenty of them) and a nice change to road-running.

In short: Disappointing to read some of the reports - this was a cross-country, not a road race!
In full: Okay the weather was hot (and the ground roack hard) but as one chap said, at least it wasn't the marathon. All in all a great race, some fantastic scenery to dull the pain and generally very good organisation. The start was a bit shambolic and I left my son to do the 4km and had to "climb" over other 4k runners to get over the start line - that aside, no issues.
One for next year - but no PBs!

In short: Bumpy, scenic cross country, friendly marshals, good atmosphere - bottlenecks though
In full: This was a very enjoyable race but a few things to note:
- it's very bumpy and the good weather meant that what would've been nice squidgy mud was rock hard bumpy stuff that slowed you down for fear of twisting your ankle
- there were lots of bottlenecks, principally at stiles (in true cross country fashion) but also on singletrack which made it difficult to overtake, and a bunch of us got stopped so a woman with a horse could move it to a different field! Which was quite annoying when we knew we were being timed.
- The marshalls were brilliant - really friendly and encouraging, and told us how far there was to go (as I didn't see many km markers), and were generally really nice, and it was easy to figure out where to go.
- I thought the water stops were fine although I heard some people saying that they wanted more water. Personally I thought it was a good balance.

In short: Challenging race, but let down by bottlenecks and terrain
In full: Some challenging hills, but unexpected stiles and other obstacles on-route made it difficult to keep up a good pace. The narrow paths also made it difficult to pass runners. Plenty of water-stops, and helpful marshals. Very much a family run (if you take out the steep bits)! :o)

In short: Excellent race because its my first for about 15 years a good "welcome back" feeling
In full: Disappointing to see nearly all the ratings so far are negative. I had no problems with the hard ruts - I had received a wake -up call the previous weekend injuring my foot/ankle due to unevenness and adverse camber on a pavement. It was such a refreshing change from running on prepared surfaces - a unique event that has its own character and a deserving of a unique approach to PB - isn't it the challenge to push yourself against whatever faces you around he next corner rather than worrying about the course being too challenging to bneat a time on tarmac ?

In short: Great scenery but harsh terrain
In full: What a fantastic setting and great (if a bit hot) weather. But all this nice hot weather made the ground very rutted in a lot of places, coupled with stiles, bridges, narrow gates, horses crossing the route made it very difficult to get into your pace. I think undulating underestimated a couple of the hills. Not one for PBs.
