In short: extreme xc !
In full: full marks to avr for deciding to let the race run in extreme conditions. had plenty of fun just getting to the race with flooded roads and a bit of snow too. change of date meant meant easy (+ now free) parking.
the start of the race lulled us with a few puddles until we hit the fields - mud and deep water galore! running uphill against a river was especially invigorating and fun!

In short: Challenging conditions on an already tough course. Rain, snow, mud and hills with rivers running down them. Lovely!

In short: A great race and loved the weather!
In full: First time I've done this race. Everyone told me how good it was and I was lucky enough to have run the route the other way in the summer - which helped! The weather was a bit biblical but all good fun. Not sure there were many drop outs despite the early arrival of snow to add to the torrential rain! Really can't recommend the race highly enough and would especially like to thank all the marshalls who looked absolutely frozen!
We enjoyed a Lock Inn breakfast afterwards as well :-)

In short: Despite the snow, rain, mud and river in the tracks, we missed the Iford River sing

In short: Excellent race and a great first XC run
In full: Very wet and muddy conditions but it made all the more fun. Excellent organisations and friendly marshals encouraging you on at every corner. No river crossing due to conditions but it wasn't really required given the torrents of water!

In short: Was it a running race or a swimming gala, either way excellent race!
In full: Some very tough and wet conditions this year, but yet again AVR put on a fantastically excellent race. Great marshals despite being soaked and frozen!
AVR showed what great friends they are to us by starting the race with a minutes silence in memory of a Chippenham Harriers club mate who sadly died whilst running recently.
Great Club, Great Race!

In short: Atrocious conditions and loved every mile!
In full: After 11-years of helping out with the organisation of this race it was good to actually run in it. I can see why it gets so many good reviews from local runners, though this year the conditions were the worst that the event had been held in and so the crossing of the River Frome was off the books, however much of the rest of the course was like running through a river - so much so that the event may need to be renamed as the River Run.

In short: Glorious weather and a great run
In full: Such a fab day and what better way to spend a warm sunny morning than running round the marvellous countryside of Bradford upon Avon. Friendly race and well marshalled. Started by the Avon then up to canal path, through fields/woodland with hardly any tarmac, yay. Plenty of slippery mud, stiles and gates to contend with and the river crossing was fun. Afterwards there was yummy homemade cakes, tea and coffee and chocs. Definitely would do this one again but perhaps next time with trail shoes!

In short: Great thanks!
In full: A nice run through the countryside, not really a race due to the number of people and the holdups this causes at every gate / or single lane hill.

So if you want to race this get near the front.

Besides that, loads of mud, fields and forest.

A good way to spend a Sunday.
