In short: Toughest race I've done. In full: Wonderful scenery, excellent organisation and a tough challenge. Yes it is hilly, but it's not TOO bad. Although the very steep, very muddy "hill" at mile 6 would challenge anyone. The rain in the days before the race made it very muddy which slowed you down and tired you out. I enjoyed the challenge. Organisation was top notch and the marshalls all offered encouragement. Results were pinned up whilst some were still running. I think the mug is a much better memento than a medal. All in all, one of the best races out there - recommended. Date of review: July 22, 2009

In short: Those hills were Magnificent and taxing!!! In full: Wonderful run, excellent off road half would recomend to anyone even the beginner. Enough long downhills to recover from uphills. Aghhh but those uphills hurt. Legs died at 10mile and plodded the last 3 but martials were very supportive and so were other runners. Excellent atmosphere! Date of review: July 13, 2009

In short: very hard In full: for a beginner with no training and a beef bourguignon to digest. "do you want some more pudding?" and the breakfast of the bed and breakfast, oh dear, too many excess before even starting! Date of review: July 13, 2009

In short: A wonderful race but a bit of a challenge. In full: Lots of mud, long, long hills and wonderful scenery. The hardest half marathon I've run. The marshalls organised a great race and I will definitely be back. Date of review: July 12, 2009

In short: Mud, mud, glorious mud ! (and hills) In full: When it poured with rain last night I knew this would be an "interesting" race, and it didn't disappoint. Lots of tough hills - steep at mile 6, long at mile 8, but some nice long downhills too. Great fun, just wish I'd found energy for a burst up the final 200 yds! Date of review: July 12, 2009

In short: Great race In full: My first ever half marathon - so I guess I can claim to be one of the few to manage a PB!! Very challenging course - but also totally beautiful.... being a town dweller it was lovely to run for two hours without seeing or hearing a single car. The hills were painful, and the mud made remaining upright a challenge in places (and let's not even dwell on the hill that seemed to me made of mud after about 5 or 6 miles!!). The second half of the course was run over "better" paths - but some steep, sharp hills towards the end made sure that hard work was still required. A word for the marshalls - I don't think I passed a single one of you who didn't offer an encouraging word, which was the icing on the cake for a great race. Date of review: July 12, 2009
