In short: A great pick for a beginner looking for that PB. Friendly with gently varying terrain.
In full: This was my first 10K and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The course was on firm (bone-dry) grass and tracks with shingles in places. There's ankle-turning potential for a beginner but it's easy to pick a safe line. This isn't an elite race and the front of the pack remains in sight with a big grouping in the mid-speed range. Really worthwhile if you're local.

In short: Friendly, laid back, lovely scenery
In full: my first 10k, maybe 100 runners in total, mix of serious and amateur. Sociable and informal organisation, plenty of water (on what was a 30+c day). Toilets and changing rooms (basic!) but on-site, and plenty of parking.
Scenery was a pleasant surprise; grass, trees and a canal....

In short: Good, friendly event, great for beginners
In full: Other than the heat this was a perfect opportunity for a PB. Good cause, too.

In short: Flat, fast and friendly.
In full: Very friendly and informal run and for a good cause. 11.30 for the 10k start was rather late on what turned out to be a very hot day that took the edge off everyone's speed. Three laps of a fairly flat course. Good friendly support for runners.
