In short: mud, hills, wind and rain yet somehow enjoyable In full: This is a cracking little event. My second year and so far all I've seen is mud, hills wind and rain. Fortunately I knew what conditions to expect as this is home turf. Really good value and well organised, don't go looking for pbs, survival is the name of the game. Date of review: March 8, 2014
In short: THE BEST half marathon training run In full: 12miles Almost on the button. Very boggy, very hilly, some very steep, some gradual climbs. descents are brilliant if a tad dangerous.....just let yourself go! +95% off road. Decent XC trainers required.
If you have the distance in you, you have to try this race, its brilliant. I've done a lot of similar events but this one is the best I've taken on so far.
Excellent marshals and exceptional cake. Date of review: February 11, 2014
In short: Tough but well worth the effort In full: Fantastic race, great marshals and a really good atmosphere. It was tough going and the terrain is pretty unforgiving but would definitely do this race again! Date of review: February 10, 2014
In short: TOUGH!!!!! In full: Tough, Muddy, Tough, Hilly, Tough, Boggy, Tough, Fell-Over-Twice, Tough, Ran-into-a-Tree, Tough, Tough, Tough!!!!
That pretty much sums it up!
Not done it before and the lashing rain on the day and weeks of rain and snow previously made conditions underfoot horrendous. Was glad to get round unscathed, sore hip for a few days after but no lasting damage!
I would consider the weather before running this again next year, 2 falls on my a**e hard and massive bruise on the precipice, it was like an ice rink but on a vertical hill!
Great organisation, great people, tough course!!! Date of review: February 17, 2013
In short: Hills, mud, more mud....the great outdoors In full: First time for me and not disappointed. Great fun! Big thanks to the marshalls who endured wind & rain to keep us on track. Date of review: February 12, 2013
In short: (Hill, mud, muddy hill) and repeat In full: A real test of strength and stamina. Great scenery but you'd've had to stop to look or risk slipping over. Great organisation, cheerful wet marshals, never a dull moment. I'll be back next year. Date of review: February 12, 2013
In short: At least it wasn't too hot, or flat, or dry...... In full: An absolute classic event but not for the faint-hearted, or those who like to keep clean and dry. Conditions were horrid, sleet/rain and high winds on the top. All credit to the Organisers and the unsung heroes - the Marshalls, stood freezing, but always encouraging, top people. Next year is 25th DD, will be entering early!!!
In short: Wet, muddy and marvellous In full: Mud mud, glorious mud! Awful conditions but fantastic atmosphere. Friendly encouraging marshals and even a few hardy spectators to cheer us on. Jelly Babies most welcome after the ropes! Definitely be back next year and will definitely be wearing off-road shoes!!! Thank you Dursley AC. Date of review: February 11, 2013
