In short: its a funny old world
In full: 1st time i too part in this i did not know what to expect as it was my 1st 50 miler and ran 8.53 last year i was better prepared but had a stinker and ran 9.28. this year had one long run and that was Edinburgh to North Berwick and that was back in May and 2 half marathons as well. this year i would have been happy just to finish with not much training being done. towards the end of the week my throat started to get a bit sore or maybe it was just nerves so if i hadnt pre entered i dont think i would have ran but i'm glad i did ran 9hrs exactly pleased that i was 28 mins quicker than last year but a bit miffed that i missed a possible pb which was on at 40 miles but from then on it was uphill and into the wind.

In short: A very long but very enjoyable race/run
In full: This was the first ultra I have ever run, I didn't know what to expect. It was a lot tougher than I thought it'd be but the organisation and constant stream of cyclists cheering us on allowed me personally to complete the run within the ten hour window, with a massive ten minutes to spare! Well run event and one I'll tell my mates about, a good experience for my first ultra.

In short: back to square one
In full: last year was the first time i had ran this so i knew what to expect and i was better prepared this year but even the best laid plans can go out the window. a combination of an injury picked up at the edinburgh marathon, the sun, having to jump out the way of a landrover and in doing so hurt my ankle in the process making the last 15 miles seem an eternity but the good things were the food at 31 miles, water and a mars bar at 40 miles it gave me a boost well for 10 minutes at least and finishing

In full: i did not know about this run until one of our club members told me about it.this is a scenic but very hilly course but with a 10hour cut of point you have got time to take in the scenery also there is a cycle race going on as well and from the cyclists to marshalls giving you encouragement it really keeps you going
