In short: Tough - Obvious really In full: Each stage had some flat bits for a few miles but the rest was very testing. Ample checkpoints to get some much needed food on board. Excellent facilities at HQ Date of review: April 4, 2011
In short: Brilliant Event! In full: Just had a fantastic three days taking part in this event. Unbelievable camaraderie amongest all those taking part & all those organising it. Definitely a "must do" event. Extremely tough in parts both mentally & physically but worth all the effort....let's all of us continue to push back our own personal boundaries by taking part in this & similar events...less than 8 months ago I had never taken part in a multi day ultra challenge...now I'm hooked!
In short: Ignore the first 3 reviews as they are for different races!!! In full: Approx as tough as the JCC. Harder going as rockier partic on Days 2 and 3, and path is narrower so fewer sections to really open out and run, as at JCC - Complete concentration required all the time! 2x long 15k stages on Days 2 and 3 are v.hilly, rocky and remote - spectacular. November ensures 'big' weather to match the scenery. Not a quad killer like JCC, praps not so many downhill bits are runnable. Only one town to run thru (Fishguard, just as Weymouth for JCC). Stages nearer 27miles in length in practice. Amazing way to see Pembrokeshire. Accom provided in St.Davids excellent. Communal breakfasts/eves meal make for good atmos. Beginners prob better with the larger groups and easier path of JCC first. This is definitely one to write home about in, for most, a totally undiscovered part of the country - almost like going abroad! Date of review: November 12, 2009
In short: Not for the faint hearted but lovely!!! In full: Padstow (close by) to Lands End. I'd never run more than 40 miles in a week so to try 78+2 (detour due to path in sea!!!)in three days was a whole new ball-game. I managed 26.2 day one, 13 or so day two and 22 on day three. I walked up the steep stuff and ran (jogged slowly)down the rest. Don't be under any illusions, these are cliff paths with lots of rocks in places!!! Its for fun and not about time. I was chuffed to have been able to run on all three days (my thighs could crack a walnut on day two I was as stiff as a board!). The scenery was stunning and day three the pick but boy was that tough terrain. Date of review: October 5, 2009
In short: Best Ultra Distance Company out there In full: This and the other 2 they do in the year are by far the best challange I have ever done. I love every minute and it was ran like clockwork. A must do event Date of review: September 17, 2009
In short: an excellent challenge - not really a race In full: In my view, slightly easier than the Jurassic Coast Challenge as the ascents are less steep and less height is gained. Very pretty coastline on a good weather day. The whole of the VO2 staff were excellent throughout: this is a huge and complex logistical exercise and it went pretty much according to plan. Good test/training for those thinking of doing a desert/stage race, especially the technically fiddly first half of the third day, when you are already pretty tired. For some it is useful that you have the option to join the walkers if it all gets too much. Well worth a go! Date of review: September 30, 2008
